In today's college football world, you are either growing/improving or you're regressing. Unfortunately our program is not improving. It certainly is in regards to facilities and revenue, but that, frankly, is a testament to the fans and the good fortune we have to be in the B1G....but as far as the product on the field, we are regressing and have been since the ill-fated fake punt against Wisconsin.
Before that fake punt, we were the second best program in the B1G and had been for 8 years...behind only OSU. Michigan had lost its way and MSU and Wisconsin were still behind us. But since that time, we've been passed by Wisconsin and MSU and Minnesota is now drawing even with us. And with Nebraska joining the conference, we're now behind them as well.
We were down before in 06 and 07, but those didn't feel like it feels now. It feels like we're the old lady in the slow lane getting passed by everyone in the fast lane. It's not age or longevity....its stubbornness. Bill Snyder is 127 years old and has been at KSU forever, but he knows how to change with the times and how not to fit a square peg into a round hole. KF refuses to understand this and it will be his downfall.
In the end, we're regressing as a program. Part of me just wants the whole thing to crash so we can completely reboot things...but the fan in me hopes that KF can just call it a career after we finish 6-6 this year and we can get some new blood in when there's still talent on the roster...
