The people ready for Weisman to move on

We'll give him Wadley's carries for the rest of the day?

What are we going to do with these sad sacks?

This is pretty simple...Weisman isn't going to be effective on outside zones and in I-back situations all game long. Those tendencies make it easy to limit him. Now, using him on inside zone and in one back situations, that is great. That has been my gripe all along. Mark is limited with regards to some skill sets, and he is blessed with others. Use him with what he is best at...that's been my thing all along. Today, it was a nice blend

Good points. I'm a sucker for wonderful walk-on stories. His back story. He never complains. Awesome leader. Brings the hammer. Just an easy guy to root for. Every year at least one guy stands out like that under KF. Would luv to see him become a grad assistant at Iowa.

i know the touchdown that put iowa up 38-7 was an outside zone play - 10/15 yards untouched. i think Weisman has the ability to go outside zone- but it's a total team effort - blocking and him being at full health - which he hasn't always been, and why his touches have been more limited this year.

We can all find examples, but they are outliers as it relates to Weisman's running success. Just because you find a quarter it doesn't mean you're a millionaire ;)

It works occasionally against NW's speed and athleticism...not so much against top tier or even mid tier defenses. I don't get the tendency to call the outside zone so much...we appear to be very good at doubles with the center and guard with one then transitioning to the second level...it's been a question I've had all year long.

He's fullback asked to play tailback. He is a good fullback, but a slow, poor vision, not elusive Big10'tailback.

Wadley ran a tail back.

When younsee see a kid like that run, it shows what MW is not.

Excellent idea. I think Weisman with his attitude and energy would make a great coach.

i bet i could say the same thing about your example too. it's easy to be critical - but if plays aren't executed, no back is making yards. it helped that iowa changed up some blocking today as well - keeping NW off balance.

and if you find that quarter, please send it to me - i'll take it! :)

plus - Weisman said pregame that he felt better going into today's game than he has ever felt going into any game. when he is healthy, is a good back.

I seem to remember several of Mark's good runs coming from the I formation, including TDs.

Yes we all know that Weisman isn't fast. He showed very good vision today. We also know what he is. A big strong back. Shonn Green wasn't fast, Ron Dayne wasn't fast, and Mark isn't either of those guys, but he is a big strong back who does a great job in short yardage and red zone situations.
