If I'm not mistaken that was Pierre's last game in a Hawkeye uniform. He had a physical altercation with a female aquaintence after that game and was mercifully bounced by Alford. IIRC he missed two free throws that would have iced the game and had the costly turnover you mentioned. The cats won a the buzzer when a tiny guard (Thompson)? had one bounce of the rim about four times, then go in. Northwestern in those days also always seemed to have a Croatian center who could shoot the three. And of course save some of his best shooting days for Iowa.
