The Iowa BB team will end 2011 as winners

I like what McCaffrey has done ove the past few games. Turnovers down, 3 point attempts down, higher percentage shots up and guys are feeling comfortable with shot selection. Cartwright seems to be back and White continues to impress. Would like to see May, McCabe and Ogelsby chip in offensively....McCabe hitting a couple 3's would really open the paint up.

Actually, those last three guys do chip in from time to time, just not typically at the same time. McCabe and May both made really sick plays in the first half today, and both are good energy guys.

Good point. I should have been more clear....we need some level of production from 2 of 3 to keep teams from sagging in the paint. McCabe has that nice drop step spin move and is good for drawing a couple charges per game. May's confidence seems to be growing and he is starting to pick his spots to drive with a plan vs. getting stuck with no place to go.

Watch out if Oglesby starts shooting in games the way he shoots in practice. He could splash in 3 or 4 threes in several Big Ten games.....

I am super pumped but am realistic that we are in the long process of 'TURNING THE CORNER' and heading in the right direction but there will be some tough stretches yet.

Not all the pieces are in place and the entire mindset of all of the players, fan base and B1G opponents have not been completely altered. Work to be done but so exciting as we are seeing this ship wreck pulled from the bottom of the ocean.

Going to be an awesome ride and I am pretty certain we haven't see the best yet.

I don't think many realize that we started playing better basketball a while ago even though there were some losses. At UNI we were in that game with 9 minutes to go no thanks to officiating. ISU we had a tough second 10 minutes of the first but played a very competitive second half. Drake & Boisie were solid games/wins. Even the Purdue game we played pretty good basketball and were a couple of plays away from beating them again. To some of us it's not like this type of game at Wisconsin came out of no-where.

It's a building process!

We started off with Basabe MIA for whatever reason, Cartwright injured and Marble coming off a concussion.

Marble and Basabe have been back into it since UNI, and there was noticeable improvement since then.

The last 5 games have taken another step up with Aaron White emerging as a consistent scorer.

We finally saw Iowa at full strength with Cartwright back to form against Wisconsin. Thats the team everyone expected to see from the beginning of the year.

With all four of those guys playing well at the same time Iowa can be competitive in the big ten.

The elevation of play from these younger guys should help increase the play & production of guys like McCabe, May etc.. Those that have shown promise in the past but on an inconsistent basis. The play of White & Oglesby & the other young guys should only elevate their play. This is something Iowa has lacked the past several years. Guys pushing other guys. Can't wait to watch their progression. :)
