the heard

Me too - anyone that hates Colin just hates good radio. Dude is smart.

He's smart in that he knows how to get good ratings, I'm just not a fan of people saying things they don't really believe just to get ratings/page views. It seems like there are more and more guys trying to be like Skip Bayless or Whitlock and taking the contrarian view on almost everything just because they know it gets people worked up.

Why I like Colin is that he isn't a fan. He's a businessman, so everything he says is based on following the money.

If after what you've seen this week, you don't believe that this is the most accurate way to look at things, than I have some oceanfront property in Iowa City to show you.

He may be smart but he says some stupid stuff. Releasing that the cubs manager had been fired on national radio without confirming it is pretty inexcusable. He also routinely says stuff that could very easily be proven wrong but there is no one on his show to be the counterpoint. That said, I enjoy listening to him because (like you said) he looks at sports from a businessman's point of view which is unique.

Colin tells the "hard truth" a lot. That is very difficult for many fans to listen to. Me included. Just two days ago he was digging on B10 defenses while speaking about Pryor and his lack of readiness for the NFL.

I don't like when he bags on the B10, which he does regularly. But then again the B10 makes itself a very easy target.

Overall I enjoy listening to him but I do believe he is very smart. He knows what to say to get people to listen and react. Sometimes I think he does that a little too much.

I'd take that as we have to take risks on players with perhaps shaky character in order to compete. That's not cheating, but it doesn't mean that we wouldn't be taking risks.

I wouldn't agree that we do that, either. But given the events of the past few months, I can see where someone who doesn't pay close attention to college sports (Colin Cowherd) could connect those dots.

To quote the great thespian Charlie Sheen: "Duh, winning!"

In order to make money you need to win and vice versa. Every D-1 football program takes chances on guys. Climate and geography have very little to do with how much risk you are going to take with a player. Last time I checked Florida and Iowa had about the same number of arrests during the same time period. OSU has lot in common with USC and Alabama.

I like Cowherd, but he is a little off base on this.
