The Hawks will now surprise and surpass expectations

Like the bookies I knew a long time ago who would say "never bet against the pros after they get embarrassed" I think the hawks are going to take that lackluster performance against CMU and ISU for that matter to really improve and win some surprising games this year.

I think Greg Davis is coaching up the passing game and will find a set of pass plays to work for each opponent and practice those plays to greatly increase the pass game efficiency. I think the hawks hold form at home although it wont be easy and they win at Indiana and NW and surprise one of the Mich teams for an 8-4 record.

Several d-linemen are coming into their own. It looks like Alvis is dragging a leg somewhat but McMinn has done well as has Passat and Gaglione. Carl Davis and Bigach and the others are making plays.

You forgot about the strong performances against ISU and UNI. You left out the 2nd half crushing against da gofer ya know. Optimism abounds....

Also about da coaching up against the gofers. Are you countin the coaching down to get to that place to be thrilled with da flea flickr?

No. Sorry. I see only three moar wins on teh schedule.

What do you see that I don't? I'm betting that Oct 13th will be a very humbling day for this Iowa Hawkeye Football team.

Wait until MSU sees the tape of JVB this year.. Oh my I can't even imagine.

I could entertain a surprise or three......
Not so sure any solid expectations will be surpassed though.........

This is what it is.

I f Kenan and Kevonte can really begin to read defenses, along with JVB Iowa be OK.

If Kenan and K and the next set of wide outs are just another .1 or .2 faster in their 40's and some fast wide outs continue to show up for Iowa... the Hawkeyes will contend.

When it's all said and done Iowa is 2 or 3 speedsters every year year for competing for a national title. If only 1 or 2 fast NFL guys a Big TEN championship.

Everything else is in place. The next couple of years will be fun to watch... if only a Percy Harvin, Ted Ginn Jr...

The road has been unkind to JVB, 2 - 6 (which includes the win against NIU), as a starter. He will need to reverse course immediately if your expectations are to be surpassed. I just wish there was more evidence to support that happening.

I think you guys are giving MSU too much credit. Not saying I expect us to beat them, but I'm certainly not counting it as an automatic loss. The "ranking" they got this season was a joke, and they have done very little to prove they deserve any accolades thrown at them earlier this year. If we can win the turnover battle and VanderFavre doesn't completely crap the bed, we can make a game of it.

How much you want to wager on this one Ghost.. I will even give you the point spread.

Sadly, any DC worth his weight in cow manure will dial up the blitz with reckless abandon, which will effectively negate any other positives.

Let them blitz and I think the hawks will be coached up to take advantage.

Hawks could rule this year in the B1G.
