Losers plan to lose, winners plan to win. The Hawks are planning their strategy to beat the Spartans. No worries about the rest.
Look, after screwing the pooch against CMU I will be very happy with 6-6 and a bowl game this year.

What??!!! But we just beat Minnesota??!

it was a conference win that at the time many Hawks were thinking we may not win another game. It gave a little hope...especially the first half. A little hope and faith are one thing.....
but I don't see anyone saying that this win changes a mostly dissappointing outlook on the season....just that we are capable of winning a few more games....
Just like Marv Cook said on the radio over lunch today. Minny was probably the worst 4-0 team in the country at that time.
Tongue firmly planted in cheek. It was good to win last week, but I swear some people on this board are watching a different team or don't know much about college football. Everyone knows MSU is overrated, but even as overrated as they are they're still a MUCH better team than we are right now (and most likely the rest of the year). Yeah, Maxwell isn't that good but his numbers are still better than JVB's and we've played absolutely dogsh*t teams, whereas they've played 3 top 25 teams. I'm sure Maxwell's number would be that much better had they had our garbage schedule. I like optimism, but not simply for the sake of optimism. The passing game is still horrendous. Like others mentioned, Weisman will look very average this week against a D with a pulse.
As the resident "True Hawk fan of the year, 2011" let me say that I agree with this statement. I have said all along that MSU is overrated and I think this is the game that will determine if we contend for a division title or not. If we win this game then look out, momentum is a scary thing. If not, look out because things could and probably will go downhill. The offense is showing signs despite VanChristiansen's deficiencies and our defense is coming along nicely. Clock management is still an issue for some reason and I'm afraid it could cost us a game still this year. All in all, the future does look bright with all of the young talent on the squad - it's just nice to see them getting some much needed experience as our schedule gets tougher the next two years. Keep your heads up!

Like the bookies I knew a long time ago who would say "never bet against the pros after they get embarrassed" I think the hawks are going to take that lackluster performance against CMU and ISU for that matter to really improve and win some surprising games this year.
I think Greg Davis is coaching up the passing game and will find a set of pass plays to work for each opponent and practice those plays to greatly increase the pass game efficiency. I think the hawks hold form at home although it wont be easy and they win at Indiana and NW and surprise one of the Mich teams for an 8-4 record.
Several d-linemen are coming into their own. It looks like Alvis is dragging a leg somewhat but McMinn has done well as has Passat and Gaglione. Carl Davis and Bigach and the others are making plays.
If we hold at home, win at Indy, NW and one Mich school. How do we lose 2 more games to get to 8-4? If we win 6 more games...that leaves us only 1 loss vs the Mich schools and a 9-3 record. Just sayin.
Haven't seen anything that gives me confidence in the passing game being an actual threat...hopefully the bye week will progress into consistency.

BUMP BUMP
I am bumping my own thread to keep the lucky mojo going. Wow what a win against their tough defense and our passing game having issues.
But the defense played lights out and the special teams were great.
Bump but we gotta start throwing the ball downfield.
