The Hawkeyes lost 5 games by less than a TD in 2012.

OK... we get it! The Hawkeyes didn't get it done in football and had one of the worst seasons ever. But... as bad as they were, they lost 5 games by less than a TD. Nebraska and Wisconsin fans are very happy with their seasons and they weren't much better.
Iowa will be over .500 easily next season. This was just a horrible fluke of a season with a confused QB who wasn't playing to his ability, and lack of running backs due to transfer/injury.

The Hawkeyes will be back, and back quickly... sometimes getting knocked down like this is what a team needs. This is rough. Nothing left to do but start winning again.

The biggest thing the Hawkeyes were missing this year was a player that was capable of firing them up... they were boring and played very stale because of it. You look at the NFL and see many former Hawkeyes who play with a fire. This 2012 Hawkeye team severely lacked that outside of Weisman and I look to him and others to "bring it" next season. Also... start the QB with balls to lead and take shots, Stanzi was great at this.

I'm sorry but you can't be serious you want to compare how fans feel at Wisconsin and Nebraska. Look at their seasons Wisconsin won the B1G championship and being 8-5 going to the Rose Bowl again for the 3rd straight time. Then Nebraska who went to the B1G Championship and is 10-3 going to play Georgia in the Cap One Bowl.

I get what you are saying about the negativity needs to stop but your point about Nebraska and Wisconsin is complete irrelevant.

I sure heck Wisconsin and Nebraska fans are happy with their seasons, they both won twice as many games as Iowa and are going to top tier bowl games.

Actually, my Wisconsin friends and Nebraska friends are both unhappy with their seasons. Both teams lost big games this year, when each program felt like they could have reached a notch higher. Fans will be fans.

They may have been within a touchdown in 5 games but two of their four wins were by 3 or less. Therefore, by your logic, they could just as easily been 2-10! Now that's BAD!!!

Additionally, they were effectively dominated or blown out in 3 games. This is a measure of a program near the basement. One game blowout can be an anomily; three games is a bad trend.

Sorry, but KF teams always seem to be riding the rail between winning and losing. Over the last 3 years, it has caught up to them. And unlike previous 'dips' with KF, this one runs deep.

I agree, I think we can be much improved next year. I also agree, it is going to take this team to come together and work like a team. Calling other players out when they are slacking off this winter, ect.
I am not even going to think about w/l for next year, we have tougher games. It will be up to how the players are responding NOW thru next fall and that will decide w/l. No need to worry about it, just do everything you can each and every day up to that point and the rest will all work out.

In 2009, Iowa fnished 11-2 and went 4-1 (loss at Ohio St) in games decided by less than a TD. We were living the dream and thought everything was awesome!

The 2009 Hawkeyes could have very easily finished 7-6.
(UNI FG blocks, Arkansas St. letdown, Michigan comeback, Michigan St. McNutt TD)

The 2012 Hawkeyes could have very easily finished 9-3 heading to a bowl game.

What stands out for me is that 'they were boring' - again. Except for the defense, Hawkeye football is pretty boring and I don't see that changing. Even if we get an exciting QB with "balls to lead", this coaching staff will neuter that before the third game of the season is over.

Ferrets has never had an exciting offense - or even a particularly productive one. If the defense doesn't score - or setup a couple scores, Iowa loses. That's football

All of Ferrets success has really been a mirage. Yes, I'm serious... even the good seasons were improbable Indiana dropped TDs in the endzone steps away from mediocrity.

In 2009, we had a QB who was confident, and found ways to win close games. In 2012, we had a QB who ****** himself the moment he felt pressure, and an offense that was boarder line disturbing to watch.

I'd feel better if those 5 close losses were a part of a brutal schedule. Problem is 4 of those 5 teams range from bad to average. And the 5th, Nebraska was just slightly better than average. The '08 - '10 teams were light years ahead of this years team in talent.

In your little scenario that you outlined for us so kindly you forgot that when you leave "reality" and play this version of the "what if" game, it goes both ways.

The 2009 Hawkeyes COULD have been very easily 7-6 but they weren't. If Stanzi hadn't gotten hurt, they could have been 13-0, 12-1.

In 2012, Iowa could very easily finished 2-10 heading to their worst season since '99. Wait for it, wait for it, that is right they already did end with their worst season since '99.

Iowa was more likely to end worse than 4-8 than end up 9-3 heading to a bowl game. Apparently you need to rewatch some of those games because many, many of those games didn't play out the way you seem to think they did.

And four of those losses were to Iowa St, Central Michigan, Indiana, and Purdue. 3 of those were at home. Just stop with the excuses. Iowa was awful this year, and it starts at the top. KF and company need to do some heavy soul searching. If they continue with the status quo, then Iowa will continue with losing seasons and no bowl games.

By clown logic, losing close games means we're on the cusp of winning 8-9 games regularly in the future.

Two posts in and already talking about the clowns. They're little brother, not us, so get pver it and stop talking about them. I can see why so many people don't like you here, derp.

You can not be serious. The more I think about this, you aren't really serious. Just stirring the pot.
