That isnt really applicable here at all. There wasnt a 3 man QB competition going into the 2009 season. It was Stanzi's job and everybody knew it. We saw how his backup looked when forced in action (NU at home). Each season isnt an apples to apples comparison when it comes to playing time, especially at the QB position.
Any why in the hell would you change your quarterback when you are in the midst of the best start in program history?
Really, not applicable at all. The comment I was addressing was that STATS ultimately should determine the QB. The point is that STATS don't always tell the whole story and address why coaches may choose or stay with a particular QB. Now, I'm not saying they aren't an important measure of performance...but there is alot more to the equation than whether Sokol threw for 40 more yards in a spring game.
And you may choose to change your QB because the one you have in the game is sucking and putting the team in one hole after another. Ask Don Shula about why he went to Griese when his current QB was riding a 11 game winning streak. Stanzi almost cost his team the Northern Iowa game, Indiana, Ark State...he was awful at the beginning of that year. That defense bailed him out time and time again.
