The fact of the matter is....

That y'all are pumping WAY too much sunshine when it comes to "All the young talent" Iowa currently has. What we have, is nothing more than what we normally do....a few "nice" players, that however are usually inconsistent...and a handful of unathletic "try hard" complimentary players who when matched up against slower paced teams can usually hold their own for about 30-32 minutes of a 40 minute game. Fran will never take us to the next level....and I mean NEVER...SEVEN years has proven this. How can some of you be so blind???

What next level is that again? Oh yea, the level that's always one higher than the one we're at.

What does next level mean to you.....?

To some basketball fans it means making it to the Dance

After LickBall we have made the Dance three years in a row.....

Did you really believe that this team would win the national championship

Just curious as to what the F you are referring to.....

Who are these unathletic "try hard" players that you speak of? The only players who aren't "athletic" are Bohannon, Ellingson and Kriener. Their ideal roles do not require them to have a lot of athleticism.

My reply to playmaker:

In his 4th year, after an elite 8, a final four and an ncaa championship, CaliPari went to the
NIT. You should be a AD. Genius.
Or GM for the Cowboys. Next level for his Boys would be consecutive winning seasons and maybe eventually winning a playoff game.

Does Playmaker do anything other than over-the-top whine and complain about Ferentz and Fran? Seriously. I think he has some legitimate mental issues. A lot of us get frustrated and complain from time to time, but it's usually in the heat of the moment or immediate aftermath. With playmaker it's a permanent mindset.

I just get tired of hearing about the next level all the time. It doesn't matter what level you're on, some fans will always scream for next level. The level I want to see us at is have a team where I feel like we have a good chance to win every game most years and have a team good enough at all times where if we get lucky and land one superstar, that player has enough pieces around him to where we can be a top 5 type team. I think Fran has us on that level.

And with the caps and exclamations, it seems like he is siting at home furious.

No. He's got a nice wife and a great job and after an east division championship and another PLAYoff loss his Boys are baaaa-aaack

! !!

One could go through every B1G Ten basketball player roster and say the same thing as Playmaker, which really says his analytic skills are more than suspect. The analysts that cover the televised games just might know a little more about basketball than Playmaker or they wouldn't be paid Analysts. More than one paid analyst has indicated this group has the talent to challenge for the Big Ten championship in future years. I've watched Iowa Basketball since Ralph Miller was the coach. I think I can realistically know when a team has talent. Being excited to watch games when the record is basically .500 indicates a lot of people recognize that these young men have talent.

Wow...our playmaker certainly has little playmaking ability on this one. This team has talent...they have to go through the same trials and tribulations that every young team does in the B10...winning on the road...etc. How would you feel if we had pulled out the Minnesota and Nebraska overtime games, and we were 17-11 right now...with four or five freshmen playing huge minutes? Are there weaknesses, absolutely...Bohannon is a huge liability on defense against top flight guards with quickness, and Moss/Cook get lost on defense sometimes too. Cook is a terrible defensive rebounder...he's still learning how to get position and use his body rather than relying on his athleticism.

However, if you don't see the talent on this team and what another year is going to do for Cook, Pemsl, and Kreiner, you are not watching what I'm watching. Pemsl is going to be a freaking beast down low...he just needs to finish better. Cook is an athletic freak that just needs a 15-18 foot jumper and his game explodes. Kreiner has the potential to be a Frank Kaminski clone...range, drive around other bigs, and score around the basket. Those are three post players with huge upside...when has Iowa had that?

I agree with Rob on Christian Williams. If he takes a leap next year...he could be our point guard...and Jordan is a two...a shooter. We need defense at the guard position...period, but Williams needs to improve on running the show and making good decisions with the ball.

Team has talent...Fran just needs to make sure they keep developing.

Please define "next level" for me as I don't know what you mean. As a fan, I would like to challenge for the Big Ten Championship most years and make some noise in the NCAA tournament.

A BIG regular season title. Deliver one or kick rocks. Can't deliver one in 7 years? Start kicking rocks. NEXT!

Here's a list of BIG programs that have won or shared BIG titles in the last decade. THE LAST 10 YEARS!
Ohio State
Michigan
Indiana
Wisconsin
MSU
Purdue
That's 6 different teams! Why not Iowa? Why should we be happy with making "The Dance"?? That's a loser's mentality.

Why don't you take a minute to remember how BAD the Hawkeyes were under Lickliter and how far we had to go to even be competitive? This is a year with one senior and if we are honest, we knew this year could be a little rough. I want to see progress and effort. Next year, we better be challenging for the title.

I only had to read the title and first sentence of your post in order to reject another troll attempt. Yawn.
