It's as if the Hawkeyes took a lesson from getting owned by MSU and OSU's defense.

Matt Gatens was amazing on the D end. Best D effort of his career. Held Hardaway to 0-7 from behind the arc. He went 2-13 from the field. 7 points under his average.

Even when the offense wasn't scoring, the D was responding and getting stops. That's how you win games.

There were times in the 2nd half I just keyed on Matt's D. He was relentless. Can't believe he had any energy left to put Iowa on his back a few times on the O end.

fun to watch a defense that makes the offense work for it and that is what iowa did. on the flipside michigan seemed to be on their heels on defense and we attcked it.

Last two games before this one are not good measuring sticks.....

OSU and MSU are elite teams, and they both had their best games of the conference season against the Hawks. Spartans might have had their best game Ever.....

No one is going to argue this. But UM was a Top 15 team and Iowa beat them by 15+.

To put things in perspective, concerning the losses to OSU and MSU, the tarheels are down 21 points in the second half at Florida State.....

Fran talked about Gatens' conditioning in the post game saying be is such incredible shape he could play another 40 minutes right then.

No doubt about it. He was in Hardaway's jock all day. The first thing he said when Dolph asked him about his D and effort was that it wasn't just him but the bigs hedging on the ball screens and Marble's job on Burke(he got his points but a lot at the end when it didn't matter). It is all about team D. I will echo Fran's comments on Gatens conditioning. I don't know how he does it.
