The "D" word. Is This Possible?

I think the thread about the Hawks chances of making the NIT is much more realistic than this thread. Iowa won't make the dance this year, but the future is bright. With that said, I think we will miss Gatens a lot next year.

typical of the "Can't do this or Can't do that" crowd, nothing is impossible in this day n age, it might be improbable, how do you know they CAN'T win their last 4, have you got a time machine or maybe a crystal ball telling you this. people have hope but i guess leave it to a couple cyclown fans to try and be nothing more than negative nellies

Cyclone fans? You're kidding me right? I am an Iowa fan through and through, but have you seen a team make the dance that lost to the Campbell Fighting Camels?! There's no way we make it into the tournament, MAYBE the NIT if we finish strong. Any tournament is fine with me this year.

I call myself a realist. But whatever you want to call me, I suppose.

To the OP: Don't worry about these tools that don't understand hypotheticals and that you are using this message board for its intended purpose. In response to your question, I believe if we were to win our last 4 games and clinch the 5th or 6th seed, we'd just need to make it out of the first round of the BTT in order to dance. Theres no way they turn down the 5th or 6th place team in the B1G this year.
To Bendontbreak: We, too, are using it for its intended purpose. Making people realize that the theories they have conjured up are crazy and impossible. In no way is Iowa being considered for an NCAA tourney spot and in no way are they going to win 5-6 straight games.

It is not impossible. Unlikely? Yes. Impossible? No.

Iowa would need to win the BTT for any chance of going dancing, and I think you would have to assume Delany would do everything in his power to ensure that doesn't happen.

They'd need to win their next six to even be considered. It's a rebuilding process folks, next year could finally be the year.

let's think of it this way, win out means we finished 7-2 in the 2nd half of the BT season
Iowa will have completed sweeps of Minnesota and Wisconsin avenged the losses to Indiana and NW, Iowa also will be 18-13 more victories in 6 seasons, which includes Alfords last season, this team will finish no worse than 6th in a league that projects to get 8 teams in the Dance, they will more than likely get a rematch with PSU in the 1st rd and i am not certain PSU will beat Iowa on a neutral court, is it possible yes but unlikely no, a lot can change between now and the selection proccess, with victories over Indiana and Wisconsin can only help Iowa's RPI.

I think all the original poster is saying, is that IF we win out and win a game in the BTT, then we would be talked about as a bubble team. I don't see anything wrong with that. If that were the case, we'd finish tied for 5th in the regular season at 10-8 with Indiana, in the supposedly strongest conference in the country, would have finished strong at 7-3 in our last 10, have 4 top 25 wins, and 8 top 100 wins. The campbell loss 3 months ago would be wiped away with our recent big wins. They've been saying all along that the big 10 will get 7 or 8 teams in, who would jump us if they wanted the 7th team in? Surely not Illinois, Minny, or NW at that point. Dreaming I know, but we'd have a dang good chance.

The key below the "L" and ";" is useful. Try it.

we have 4 more conference game to go til we find out, the can't do it period will be very happy when it is over and Iowa doesn't make it. the people who feel they can, will watch and think happy thoughts

It's not like I'm not going to hope the Hawks win every game, but I sure as hell am not going to believe that them winning the last 4 will put them in the tourney. It won't. And we won't win the last 4. They are going to have to win 7 in a row to even sniff the bubble. And the odds of that happening are about as good as the odds of me convincing you otherwise.

Just curious. Anybody wanna change their mind yet about this and realize positive things ARE INDEED POSSIBLE? How about you Ghost? You seem to have the answers to everything?

Drake has a higher RPI than Iowa. That is all.

South Carolina-Upstate has a higher RPI than Iowa. Lets all take a deep breathe and, just like the NCAA selection committee, look at the entire body of work.
