The "D" word. Is This Possible?

Four games are left in the regular season. If anything the Hawks have proven this year, NOBODY knows what's gonna happen in these games, however, it is certainly a possibility all four games could be wins (and yes, I know, we could also lose all four games as we've shown that capability also). We've proven we can beat anybody, and nobody can argue with that. That being said, let's assume we do indeed get on a roll, win the remaining 4 games, win 1 or 2 in the BIG Tournament, and lastly get a little help with Indiana, Purdue, and Northwestern struggling the rest of the way out and in the BIG Tournament. Somebody tell me we arent dancing if that should occur? Or do I need to go back to sleep and dream a little more? 11-9 or 12-9 in the best conference in D1 is not too shabby.

I would have to think it's still possible. Were right there in the pack. We could get some really good wins down this stretch that will be crucial to NCAA chances

Anythings possible. But the Hawks need to win the torney to be dancing. Also need OSU and or MSU to slip up in the torney.

Is this going to happen every time we win a game?

The only D word you need to prepare for is disappointment.

Ummm, yea when we are no where near out of the conversation it should be.

We're not in the conversation. We're 14-13.

Maybe what you mean is "Although the odds are infinitesimal, we are still not technically out of consideration".

the best record would be a 10-8 conference record, with possibility of a 5th place finish, the other teams still have games left to play that will affect the standings.
Purdue and Indiana play each other in the last game for them in the BT season

I was Dissapointed when I opened this thread to Discover that the "D" in question was Dancing and not Defense. I figured it was in relation to the Hawks actually playing some Decent Defense yesterday.

In reality, the only for sure way Iowa gets to the Dance is by winning the B1G tournament. IF, and that is a big IF, Iowa wins out the regular season and advances to the title game they would finish the season at 21-13 overall, and 10-8 in the conference. IMO, that would put them in the discussion for the Dance, but in no way guarantee them a spot. They would still probably be one of the first teams eliminated from the discussion.

To the OP: Don't worry about these tools that don't understand hypotheticals and that you are using this message board for its intended purpose. In response to your question, I believe if we were to win our last 4 games and clinch the 5th or 6th seed, we'd just need to make it out of the first round of the BTT in order to dance. Theres no way they turn down the 5th or 6th place team in the B1G this year.

Strong, consistent Defense the rest of the way is the only shot at there being D-ing at the end of the year. That would be a Departure from what we've seen so far this year, but it's never too late for them to Develop in to a good Defensive team, if they are Dedicated and Determined to Do so.

To Bendontbreak: We, too, are using it for its intended purpose. Making people realize that the theories they have conjured up are crazy and impossible. In no way is Iowa being considered for an NCAA tourney spot and in no way are they going to win 5-6 straight games.

The likelihood is that the truth will be somewhere between the two extremes in bold. I'm thinking 2-2 might be more realistic.

But IF Iowa should somehow win out, that would put us at 18-13 (10-8). 1 win in the BTT, and we'd be 19-14 (11-9). Not sure if that's enough considering our bad OOC.

Two wins, probably three, would probably be more realistic. At that point, at 20-14 or 21-14, then MAAAAAAAYBE. I still wouldn't count on it. But at least then I think we'd be in the discussion. If we'd had a better OOC, then it's a different discussion.

Also the home game against Nebraska and the game @PSU would have been nice to have. Then we'd be 16-11 (8-6) at this point and a more legit bubble team IMO.

I shouldn't have said no where near out of the conversation. I haven't anyone say that we are a lock to be out. Obviously it's a long shot but as the situation as the OP put it, it's possible.

To Hawkeye11en1: You're wrong. This message board was intended to provided a platform for Hawkeye fans to affirm and legitimize every thought someone decides to share.

typical of the "Can't do this or Can't do that" crowd, nothing is impossible in this day n age, it might be improbable, how do you know they CAN'T win their last 4, have you got a time machine or maybe a crystal ball telling you this. people have hope but i guess leave it to a couple cyclown fans to try and be nothing more than negative nellies

Right, like all those crazies suggesting we'd beat Indiana yesterday. Tell us again ghost how there's no way Iowa can compete with a top 25 team.
