THE CJB HATE HAS GOTTEN TO BE TOO MUCH. I'm gonna have to ban some of you.

I'm glad some of you are finally figuring out what I've been telling you for the last 2 years. CJ is not a 'great' QB! Like I've told you morons over and over, they went undefeated last year because...A. They stopped the run. B. They ran the ball well. C. They had a +17 turnover margin. Against the 'tough' opponents last year, CJ's numbers looked about like they have for the last 2 games. Fact. End of discussion. CJ and Davis need to go....the nice part is, we at least know one of them is leaving after this year.....................

Last year was a total team effort, but to think that CJ didn't play a huge role, would be as stupid as saying Kind and Jewell didn't play huge roles on the defensive side. Two games for sure CJ made HUGE winning type plays in these games late:

-Iowa was in a dogfight with ISU last year until CJB made a great throw rolling out to his left against his body to Riley in the endzone for the TD.
-Iowa was in a dogfight with Pitt last year. CJB ran, scrambled, fought and clawed to get the team into FG range, so that MK could do what he did as time expired.

The offensive line has been patchwork at best all season long. Daniels, Welsh missing games. Croston out for the year, Ike missing games. I mean the pass pro has been horrendous. Even with the patchwork line, when CJB had Vandeberg and Kittle the passing game was ok. When MV and GK went down, the passing game went down the toilet. And yes some of that blame rests on CJ's shoulders and some on the WR and some on the OL.

He had some less-than-stellar throws. God forbid he lets a 25-mph wind, with gusts of 40mph+, affect his throws...

That said, he ought to take the WRs aside and say, "Look, is it too much to ask for you guys to hold on to one or two extra passes the next couple weeks?"

Look at the Illinois game today and then ask yourself: what did CJ do today that Stanley could not have done? it's the baseball "wins above replacement" argument.

That's the problem to me this season. CJ was a stud last year. He was fearless. he made accurate throws. He threw deep balls occasionally.

Today vs Illinois CJ was honestly a liability. He made some terrible throws... overthrows, throws behind receivers that got picked off, etc. I think some of it falls on the play calling and some of it falls on his weak receivers. But a lot of it also falls in CJ as well

You can blame most--if not all--of yesterday on wind. 25+ with 40+mph gusts? Sorry, NO QB can shine in those conditions.

I do think he isn't the same QB as last year. But he is missing Blythe, for one, along with inconsistent lineups along the OL all season. Add the loss of T Smith. And although I love what Wadley and Daniels are doing, Canzeri was almost an "extra" WR. And at this point, we are left with two options ONLY at TE, the one who can catch and the two who can block. That's mitigated, of course, by the fact than absent Kittle isn't a "threat" for the false start on 3rd-and-goal from inside the 10...

Damn it all, it's "lol". WTF is with the "Baahaaahaahaa" in your posts, now?

I don't think people think CJ is the problem as he's running this offense as well as he can with the players that we have.It isn't like he's had plenty of time in the pocket to go thru his progressions.I do think he's taking so many hits that his body has taken a toll on him and sometimes he throws to quick and his balls are high and behind the players, like Riley's where he barely got his hands on it and was intercepted. It also doesn't help when they drop passes that are right there.Since the surgery he doesn't have the speed running the ball like he did.He knows the offense inside and out and is our best chance to win games with him at the helm. He's doing the best that he can considering. Now it's time to get ready for Neb. Go Hawks

CJ has not been great, can't argue he's been off in both play and decisions. That said, both his OC and his receivers hasn't helped him out.

CJ's guts, effort, and play last year was, IMO, the difference between 12-0 and a B1G West title, and maybe 9-3. That likely bought him a lot of leniency from me. I also believe that toughness resulted in some of the issues we see this year.

CJ has his place in Hawkeye history from last year alone, even with the RB debacle, which wasn't on him.

Never shouda cut that hair.
You don't think KF taking Wadley out of the Illinois game for extended stretches of the game (I'm guessing) for his fumble (his lower weight and non-stellar blocking ability) had any influence on Wadley, Iowa's best offensive player right now? CJ's second interception in the last 2 games? That didn't rub KF the right way, either. People don't give KF enough credit for Iowa's poor offensive decisions. His decisions trump any other's decisions.

Don't ya think blaming CJ for offensive woes is a little ridiculous? I mean we have challenges at receiver do we not?

All might be true. But KF doesn't design the routes, or call te plays.

Wadley should play, a lot. But Daniels went 158.

KF is to blame for Davis being here, so yes, it falls on him.

CJ has unquestionably been off this year, both with his feet, throws, and decisions. WR are dropping too many passes. Our playcalling, routes, and predictability is awful. And while improving, the Oline/RB pass protectiin isn't great.

All of these things can be true, and they all play into the passing woes.

CJ takes too much blame cause he's QB1. it's just how this goes.

(1)Which Iowa TE is going to successfully catch the ball? Successfully block the man?
(2)Which pro team doesn't have receivers adjust their routes just to get open? Come on, which pro teams?

Icky, there is someone who needs to go more than GD or CJ. Learn the game. Learn humanity. Learn not to be stupid. Learn not to be a narcissist. Learn not to be dumb.

Seriously, learn the game.

Not sure of your point. Iowa isn't a pro team. and yes, we lack great talent and depth in the receiving corps....which is exactly why we need routes and schemes to help...like dozens of other successful passing games in college have(even ones with less talent than Iowa), when they don't have great receiving talent.
