The big winner in the trophy debacle is Hy-Vee

.... for a couple of reasons.

1) No matter what they put out there for the Hero's Game trophy it's almost guaranteed to be better received than the new Cy-Hawk.

2) Now that they've seen the outrage I think they will realize what's at stake and they will actually design a decent trophy.

I think what Duff is getting at is that Hy-Vee is sponsoring and creating the trophy for the Iowa/Nebraska game, so they now know how passionate fans will be if they put out a crappy trophy.

They've had the benefit of seeing Iowa Corn fall flat on their face in a pile of manure.

Actually, it's worse for them. This blow-up has now heightened everyones awareness about these trophies and the negatives will get much bigger play. Prepare for - "if you thought the Cy-Hawk has bad, take a look at this load of crap...

The only way it could be worse, is if it literally was a pile of crap.

Not a chance. There is no way the trophy will be more poorly received than the Cy-Hawk. It just isn't possible. On the poll on this site over 99% of the people didn't like it.

I'm still very confident Hy-Vee or whoever is in charge of creating that trophy will screw it up.
Not all rivalries need trophies...what does UM and OSU play for again?

I'll bet at the very least they do a ton of market research before they unleash the trophy on the football nation.
