I'm making the following for 23 people, about 8 of them kids...I'm heading to the store, what should I buy ?
Is it really Turkey Gravy if you're using chicken stock? Sounds like an imposter to me.I'm making the following for 23 people, about 8 of them kids...
- 4 boneless turkey breasts on the smoker
- Turkey gravy (flour, chicken stock, butter, seasonings)
- Green bean casserole (Green beans, cream soup of your choice, milk, soy sauce)
- Mashed potatoes (Russet spuds, half-and-half, butter, chives)
- Scratch dinner rolls (Flour, yeast, eggs)
- Pumpkin pie (Canned pumpkin, 9" pie crust, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, brown sugar, evaporated milk)
My "middle age" girlfriend per @ICHawk24 is making salads and baked goods.
A few years ago I started doig those boneless turkey breasts on the smoker because a full turkey was too much of a pain in the ass and lot's of it gets tossed. That and it hogs the oven too long when I could be doing other stuff. Downside is I don't get any drippings to use for gravy. Is it really Turkey Gravy if you're using chicken stock? Skipped the pumpkin this year and went cherry, apple, and coconut cream. Oldest son is doing a deep fried turkey and I am providing a spiral ham, stuffing, etc. Yes it's deer season! I saw a doe running across a field with a buck in hot pursuit. The next day I saw two bucks fighting on a tee box on a near by golf course!!! Really cool to see!!!!!Turkey, Amana Bone In Ham, Pepperidge Farm stuffing, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, cottage cheese, deviled eggs, turkey gravy, couple of casseroles, pumpkin pie.
My three kids and their spouses, seven grandkids, 1 grandkid’s spouse, 1 great grandchild (new!). Maybe some drop by’s.
Deer season in full swing, so we all gather. Yahoo!
Together?!Oddly, Mac & Cheese is a Thanksgiving staple here in SC.
And oysters!
I have an outdoor turkey fryer that I bought for fish frys and always wanted to try a turkey but I’m too chicken shit. I don’t trust myself not to make a 30’ mushroom cloud in my backyard.Oldest son is doing a deep fried turkey and I am providing a spiral ham, stuffing, etc.
Envy you. I’m a huge seafood person. If I lived on the coast I don’t know if I’d ever eat beef.Oddly, Mac & Cheese is a Thanksgiving staple here in SC.

Do it. Best turkey I've ever eaten. Couldn't believe how good it was.I have an outdoor turkey fryer that I bought for fish frys and always wanted to try a turkey but I’m too chicken shit. I don’t trust myself not to make a 30’ mushroom cloud in my backyard.
