Thanks McD!!!

Hey Spark, you need to calm down. For one if you want to put your kid up against mine or if you want to match wits, your feeling froggy, SO LEAP.
Second he threw his B10 "trophy" away, why if he knew he was hurt? He knew he did the best he could?
I never could make D1. When you make D1 you are better than most. So do not sit back and tell me **** about it.
Your one of those that asks people like me to coach your kids, right up until they are just not good enough, then it is not your kids fault, not your fault, but mine.
I am not saying McD was not (in his time he made us proud), I am not calling him out, I am calling you out.

If I had kids I wouldn't let them anywhere near you, believe me.

I've already beat you in a battle of wits because I'm not getting into an argument with some random guy on the internet that has no idea what he's talking about. Have a good night olddude.

I will and you also. Congrats to Ramos and St. John.

You need to get a clue.
For YEARS now this wrestling forum has been a great one because the less knowledgeable, know-it-all, negative posters have stayed away and kept to the football/bball boards. Please go find another sports team to rant about. Please go somewhere else to call other posters out. That is not what this forum is for. Your tripe is not respected here.

First of all Pot meet Kettle..

Second of all if you are happy with the way this year has gone for Iowa wrestling and the actual LACK of actual aggressive wrestling then maybe you need to go be an ISU fan, cause this year was not what Iowa wrestling is about, the only one that has gone out night in and night out and went after it was Ramos, rest seem to content to barely get by which has cost them more than once this year. Then add to the fact they are not even in the NCAA wrestling championships in their own back yard is just sad.

Thanks Matt!! It's clear that Matt's issue was strength. He couldn't finish like he used to and he couldn't defend like he used to. Clearly something was wrong (be it the cut or an injury). People catching up to him clearly was not the issue.

My first thought of McD not being right was the Triggas match. I have no idea when it happened, but that was the first time I noticed it at least.

If the injury truly happened before the season then it is a catastrophic and embarrassing failure to allow him to wrestle when he wasn't right.

If it happened before the season and he knew he wasn't right then he deserves whatever criticism is directed his way. He made the decision to wrestle at 60% which did nothing to benefit himself or the team.

This is all hypothetical of course, assuming the injury in fact happened before the season.

He wrestled to a 2nd place finish in the Big Tens despite an injury. He beat Megaludis who is wrestling for the title tonight, so don't say he didn't help the team. He couldn't win a title with this no doubt, but what options did he have? Could he have red-shirted? I really don't know, maybe someone else could answer that. Either way, the decision was made and is now a moot point. He was a hell of a Hawkeye and he will be missed.

Agree 100%!!!! He gutted it out for the future of our team. Thanks McD! 2014-2015 we start a title ran again!!! Next year we need a second place finish! PSU will be unfortunately great.

I simply started this post bc I was bugged about people bashing the guy when, in the end, he worked his *** off for us Hawk fans!

Read soooooo many different bloggers bashing him and saying how everyone caught up to him BUT the kid, was, is and always will be one of the true Hawkeye greats. He has an injury that has been serious for sometime now and needs surgery. If you don't believe me, well, check him out after the season and you'll see the proof. He GUTTED out this tourney and I, for one, want to say thanks to McD and wish you the best. I know he's hurting and hate that his senior year ended the way it did but true Hawk fans appreciate the effort!!!!!

I think he was just deer, bear, duck, goose, pheasant, turkey, pidgeon and fish hunting with JVB instead of practicing.....

That is good and thanks for doing it. He does deserve the respect, as he has earned it.
I think the teams poor showing was kind of viral. I am much calmer today, but I am not happy with the state of any of our programs. B-ball is making a showing and it would be nice to see them go far in the NIT, but that is a hard pill to swallow when the best we had in any sport was to root for the NIT. Just hope it helps them for next year. Keep getting better and make a deep NCAA run next year!!

The state of our program is fine, the problem is our expectation (including me) are way to high. If any other prograam finished 4th in the country, their coaches would be celebrated. The difference between know and a few years ago is that Brands is staying with the blueprint, while Jimmy did not. GO HAWKS!
