Texas OC resigns

That's not exactly a fair comparison.

1. It's Texas. No, not the "Little Ole Iowa" syndrome. In Texas, football is more than a religion. Losing more than 2 or 3 games is hardly tolerated, at any level. Davis was made into a scapegoat, in a year where Brown decided to try and be a power running team, and got away from the spread (which is Davis' bread and butter). The shakeup was completely unnecessary. All they had to do was go back to what they've been doing for the past 6-7 years.

Your not comparing KF to Brown I hope, maybe we should hire davis.

My basic point is that Davis was put behind an 8-ball with the offensive philosophy shift that Brown decided to make. Firing (that's pretty much what happened) him after basically Year 1, when it's YOUR fault for making the big change, is not smart. Now if Davis hadn't figured it out in another couple years, then I wouldn't have had a problem with him getting canned. But like I said, that's the mentality in Texas, both with the school/program and the fanbase. That's the way football is treated down there.

Coach Ferentz has to much integrity to throw an assistant coach under the bus. I prefer a coach like him over Zook or Brown. He'd prefer to get fired than make a scapegoat out of his assistants. It shows a lack of integretity.

Do you want Norm Parker to get fired? Let's face it, Coach Ferentz could push Norm very easily to the curb. Multiple amputations, serious health problems, can't make recruiting visits, the uncertainty of future participation, age, etc. However, Ferentz won't do it. His is very loyal to his assistants. Likewise, the staff is very loyal to him.

Coach Ferentz is a good boss. Far superior to Mack Brown or Ron Zook. Who would you rather work for?

No, but I also don't want a DC who spends more time in a hospital bed than a film room.

When you are the Head Coach at a major college football program, you have to do things you don't want to do sometimes, and there ic certainly a way to replace Norm without kicking him out of Iowa City.

I am sure Barta would love the guy as a special assistant in the AD.

Now, if you have assurances that the health issues are over, than by all means, but that rarely is the case with advanced diabetes.

I suppose they don't like the spread? Besides the fact that it produced a national title and another championship berth. Correct me if I'm wrong there.

No idea. Never understood the hatred many fans down here have for Davis when Texas has been racking up yards and points on offense. I frequently make them an offer to trade Davis for KOK. They never know what to say after that. I was telling a couple of friends down here tonight that UT should go out and hire KOK. They would be wishing to have Davis back real soon.

Sidenote, apparently Husker fans aren't real happy with their OC either.
