Tevaun Smith and Recruiting

I completely forgot he was from Toronto Canada until I saw him being interviewed this morning. I am surprised that Iowa got someone out of Canada & recruited him. I never view Iowa as that aggressive with recruiting so didn't think they'd look up north.

Can anyone offer how it went down with getting Tevaun? How many stars did he have? Who was responsible for getting him, etc.? Glad he made it to Iowa but surprised Iowa got him, I guess. Canada is lightly recruited.

This video is kind of interesting as it touches on recruiting (or lack thereof) in Canada.

Tevaun was a 3* recruit out of Kent, CT. He may be Canadian, but he went to high school in the good, ole U.S.A.

Rivals says he only had offers from Uconn and Temple. Iowalaw says that Iowa can't compete with players like Smith.

Didn't Iowa recruit an offensive lineman out of Vancouver a half dozen years back. I think he did a year at the Hun school before coming to Iowa. Didn't pan out.

Now I remember seeing videos about him. He was out of Toronto. Not sure how he landed in CT but he was playing in Toronto.

Tevaun attended high school in Toronto, and unsurprisingly didn't get recruited very much since he was in Canada. After graduation, he went to prep school for a year in CT to improve his visibility, and chose Iowa over offers from UConn and Temple.
