just because you think coaching in college is big time doesn’t mean you won't have parents thinking their kids should play more

This isn't his mom so I'm guessing grandmother, but the meat of my post below remains the same...

There are parents who understand sports, and parents who don't. Neither are a big deal by themselves

It's when you combine people who don't understand sports with those who have diarrhea of the mouth and keyboard, that you make coaching the absolute worst job on the planet.

The worst part about this one right here is that I guarantee you Fidone did not want his grandma spouting off on facebook because it's going to do nothing but make players and coaches hate him for it, make fun of him for it, and be a huge distraction in the media.

What I want to know is this...

I get the parent crap at the high school level where literally everyone thinks their kid is Mahomes/Ohtani/Giannis and none of them really know a damn thing about sports.

But, I'm guessing to be at the level Fidone is at given the current youth sports environment, he's been to a million camps, clinics, and showcases, and had some really high-level coaching along the way...how the hell does he not understand that he's a small fish in a big ass pond by now? He's not TE1 at Ohio State or Oregon ffs.

"Broke him?"

Gimme a break granny.

Also side note, if you're over 70 you should have your and facebook license revoked. Nothing good ever happens. I can say that without bias because I've never had a fb account let alone posted anything there.

And another thing...

The Hawks offered Fidone. Anyone dumb enough to turn down the program that has produced George Kittle, Noah Fant, TJ Hockenson, and Sam LaPorta just in recent history, has to be kind of a dumbass. Ostrenga and Ortwerth are gonna be in the league real shortly too.

On what planet do you turn down a TE offer from Iowa, even if for nothing else than the NFL bazillionaire prospects?

I think Fant's brother? or someone was spouting off about his PT if I remember correctly. I wondered if KF doubled down when that happened.

It was his half brother, in fairness to Fant I think that half brother wasn't in the family picture at all and was going off on his own.

Sat by the Fant family at a spring game and they were a bunch of doozies which is being nice. His sister and a few other hangers on in their group were wearing nebraska hats and hoodies. They're from Omaha.

Either Iowa is kinda picky about who they go after at TE these days or top end TE recruits are spurring us still. It's probably a little of both situationally. I would think Iowa could land damn near ANY TE recruit they want. But that's not been the case. We've still been landing some good ones though. Hoffman and Burt are both seem to be perfect fits. And next yrs class with Meyer Woods and Johnson looks damn good.

Well to defend the Fants a little I do remember BF oddly not using him all that much for some games. Like he wasn't even on the field let alone targeted much at times. It wasn't just the Fants calling that out. It's just such a bad look when family does it though. Doesn't even matter if it's a legit thing or not.

For as much as we did use Fant he had plenty of more tread on the tires it seemed like. Stanley and him had a great report it seemed like.

I never met Noah, I'm sure he's a good dude. The family observations I had sitting right behind them and hearing them confirmed their douche canoery...

Yeah I don't remember anything coming from Noah himself that was bad. He was a model teammate it seemed like. Just another underutilized offensive weapon BF coulda done more with.

Didn't his family go on the radio be it his Dad or brother in Omaha and talk stuff? I could be making that up though it was awhile ago now

Yes they did.

Fant's family seemed way more concerned (to me) about their potential to have a millionaire in the family to blood-suck from than they did about the kid himself or the team he played on.

They seemed to be the kind of folks who wanted Fant to get 12 targets a game, 195 yards, and 2 TDs for the NFL scouts but rooted against Iowa as a team. I hope he wrote as many of them off as possible.

Caveat: I'm in no way a football coach.

At times, Fant wasn't on the field, presumably because Hockenson was on the field. Iowa doesn't have many great receivers. Fant could've been split out more often with Hock in the game. Fant is/was fast and would've been a matchup problem for a corner. I wish they would've put him on the outside more.
