As I was looking through these, I thought, how the heck did they win 21 games? Then I looked at their schedule...

Temple's NCAA rank:

FG offense-315
FG defense-86
Reb marg-240
Scoring def-69
Scoring off-266
3pt per game--93
3pt %--209
FT %--225
FT attempts--337
TO marg--56
SOS--89
Top 25 wins--1 win
W-L vs. top 150-(8-10)

Feels a lot like last year.... I like our match up first round and Villanova sounds decent for 2nd round due to their lack of tourney success but they'll likely prove to be the better team similar to both the Davidson mat up being favorable and many liked the Gonzaga draw last year.

I'd rather have played xavier out of the 2 seeds but it doesn't really matter. Iowa has work to do

Likely an accurate observation.

I like the setup too, as much as I can for being a 7 seed, but I was saying the same thing about Gonzaga last year.. They always fold early, yada yada. Oops.

But, Iowa seemed to match up with Nova pretty well two years ago (that OT loss in Battle for Atlantis). I imagine the match ups will be similar this time around.

One thing I know for sure - there are no easy NCAA games, and most anyone can win if they play well. There are no bad teams in the tournament.

Not even thinking Nova until Iowa dispatches Temple, though.

Here's the analysis:

Temple is not a great team. If Iowa loses to Temple, the season is a failure.

That pretty much covers it.

Yep. Any first round loss this year would be a failure in my eyes. But, $h!t happens in this tournament.

Has Iowa played Temple since that 1990 pre-season NIT game in Carver, with Mark Macon, etc.? Not that I can think of.

Nova will have much better guard play with their SR PG.

Temple is not an NCAA at-large quality team - that is just a fact. Iowa opens a 6 point favorite and it would be even higher if people weren't skittish about Iowa after their end to the season.

Temple is the lower seed but we're basically playing in THEIR backyard.

Uni gets Texas in Oklahoma.

Thanks NCAA....

Surprised no one did a Cosby joke......ehhhh, that's probably a good thing. Anyway, I haven't paid attention to Temple basketball since John Chaney left. Not sure what to make of the stats 99topdawg posted other than Iowa should win by double digits. Given how the season played out Iowa will lose late by 3.

Yeah I'm thinking about betting on iowa -6 but also throwing a small amount on temple moneyline....because iowa

I agree 100%, I think Iowa either wins by 15 or loses, which means you can guarantee yourself a profit.

(this probably sealed a 4 point Iowa victory!)

What Hawk team is going to show up? The gutless, no hustle, no heart one will lose by 3.
The January, free wheeling, havin fun one wins going away.....cmon guys show us something!

We should be favored by 9 according to Sagarin. Vegas is probably giving them 3 points for proximity to home. According to Kenpom it should be Iowa by double figures.

The Temple site states they shoot 3 pt'ers at 34%. Above says 20%. I wonder how much zone Iowa will run with their crappy long range shooting. Gotta rebound the ball though.
