All Hawkeyes on deck in this one. Regardless of who does or doesn't play, the Hawks rise to the occasion. Everyone plays like Adam Robinson, including the LB's and CB's. Every Hawkeye may not be big enough, strong enough, fast enough or experienced enough, but it won't matter. Iowa upsets Michigan State. This Iowa team has too much character not to. In fact, it'll be such a beat-down by the Hawks that Rucker will wish he had stayed in jail a little longer...
With regards to Hunter, KF said at his Tuesday presser, "We’ll see how the week goes. He got nicked up a little bit." He usually tends to understate injury situations so I take that as code for, he probably won't play.
USA Today "Matchup" shows both as doubtful.
Opportunity for the LB's to lay the foundation for future greatness. Unfortunately, the here / now, they will be abused by Cousins.
You hope Morris has a Vandenberg type moment and Johnson is back at the position he is better suited for.......I've become more confident as the week has progressed.
if both are out, i have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more dime and nickel packages. unless Morris and Johnson showed some great strides in practice this week, i think Norm will put Bernstein in more, esp in obvious passing situations. I think MSU will come out in 4 wide early and often looking for those type of mismatches.
Problem is it is hard to get penetration when the other team can go mass protect and beat you by picking on particular match-ups in the defensive backfield.
The coaches need to adjust to limit their vulnerabilities and maximize their strengths. Can't just say "execute" and hope for the best.
