Tailgating Heads Up

Am I the only one that feels good inside about slamming my beer just so I can give homeless Harry 5 cents? Another good reason to binge drink before visiting Nile for a couple hours

You're doing it wrong.

Dubuque St. is clear, all football traffic should take this route. It will be by far the easiest and fastest way to get to Kinnick.

Exactly, some people don't get "it"

DO NOT take dodge/1 or come down the Coralville strip...only come in Dubuque St.

*Disclaimer: The above advice may or may not be for my personal gain and benefit only...Dubuque st exit/entrance may or may not be 100% closed...

Change it to an earlier game 100 degrees will be miserable. Sorry to you east siders

I always feel like on hot days 11 am games are the worst...sitting in Kinnick with no shade during the hottest portion of the day. At least tailgating you can get under a tent or something, with refreshments.

Try this if your worried about open containers

Hide My Beer - Beer Can Disguise - Can Wraps

First off, I doubt that would work with a Coors Light can. But anyway, if you get caught with that, be prepared to be charged with open container, interference with official acts, obstruction of justice, unlawful concealment of an alcoholic beverage and a host of other charges. You'll be in the cell under Kinnick until you can get a judge on Tuesday and then you better hope you can post the $25k bond.

I have never understood why people keep getting open container tickets. Just don't drink beer on the sidewalk or on the street. It's that simple. Parking lots, yards, drive ways, etc, those are all fair game. I walk down Melrose from the west in University Heights and I usually take two road beers with me. I drink the first on the walk down because Uni Heights cops don't give a drop of **** about open container issues. I have that one finished before walking across the railroad bridge. Then I don't open the other until I step into the parking lot west of Kinnick. Pretty easy. If you get an open container citation you're doing it wrong.

This, cross that bridge with an open container and you will get caught.

Plus...just saw on the news some forecast models put next Friday-Sat at 100 degrees...yikes...It might be a hot one...those are the worst.

And heaven forbid if you try to bring in your own water. The UI has to maintain that stranglehold on nature's life force and sell you 12 ounces for $4.

Dang....that means sipping my Scotch in the back of my limo for another 10 minutes.

Sucks

Look, dude, the walk from the gravel driveway across the bridge and onto the property of KC lot is where I have always crushed my "in the zone" brew. The jack booted thugs have ended this practice. Our record at Kinnick bince I have been deprived of my in the zone brew is awful. The losses there have been terrible, too. Clown U. Purdue. Central Michigan. It ain't a coincidence, bud.

For those of you complaining about water prices, I suspect Game Day Ron will be on hand to quench your thirst with his standard $1 bottle of water offer along with several wares to fill all of your non-licensed University of Iowa apparel needs (and if any of you forget to shave and don't have $1 to waste on water, he'll also have your shaving needs covered with his patented Revolt LL225 waterless shaving solution for $29.95). If it is like past years, Mr. GDR will be posted up near the bridge on Melrose. If you need help finding him, let me know and I will post a map.

Best,

OK4P

'sup hawkeyescott. Long time no see. How you been? Great, good to hear.

Anyway, another piece of advice - if you dare walk across the bridge with a Solo Cup, prepare for some officer to detain you and stick his sniffer in your cup. This gives me an idea, I think I might pee in a cup (without spilling it on myself like I did at last year's opener) and then carry the cup across the bridge with me. Then, when Barney Fife decides to give it a whiff, he'll get a little more than he bargained for. I'll eat a bunch of asparagus the night before, too, just to get that extra rank stench in the pee. Thoughts?
