SURPRISE! Iowa is ranked #5 in latest CFB Playoff rankings

Man all this is fun! Who here is glad they aren't one of those "take one game at a time and everything will take care of itself" types? That's gotta be boring as hell.

I have to be honest. I can't figure out the committee rankings. The committee is ridiculously inconsistent. That's why it is hard to get excited by this #5 ranking. If Iowa can be promoted for seemingly unknown or random reasons, it can just as easily be demoted for unknown or random reasons.

I don't get it... Beating Indiana doesn't just the bump. With that said we weren't where we deserved to be last week so I guess it just worked itself out.

Just to give everyone a little flavor on Finebaum, the dude seems to have a serious dislike for one of my heroes, Hank Aaron. Finebaum has on a few occasions ripped into Aaron or downplayed his accomplishments. Finebaum actually referred to Hank as Bud Selig's houseboy on an Atlanta radio station.

Really, that is a sick outlook by Finebaum of just an excellent athlete, great baseball player, and what seems to be a great man.

I havent heard Finebaum a lot but this just makes PF look crazy. WTF accomplishments does Paul Finebaum have?

This could be the biggest FU to ESPN I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing! Isn't #5 where it really counts the best rating for a KF coached Iowa football team? Regardless of what happens from here, this is just a whole basket of fun for Iowa fans, for the kids, and the coaches. I really hope, for the sake of the kids, that they get to play in Indianapolis...what a thrill, what a great salute to their efforts. Then, whatever happens, happens. We will play in a major bowl and I will be there cheering them on. Cannot wait for Saturday night festivities!

I'm from Burlington but live in Phoenix, I got stuck at work late and had the radio on while in traffic and heard "Iowa at #5". I started cheering in my truck like an idiot. As I pulled into my neighborhood I see a house 3 down from mine with a big Hawkeye flag. Now I have a Hawk neighbor that I never knew. Hopefully he's not that WHAR guy. Go Hawks what a day!

I still don't understand the Ohio state ranking. They haven't beaten anyone yet this year...went to the brink against Indiana and couldn't put away minnesota

It doesn't make any sense and yet NOBODY has a problem with them being in the top 4

They are a bunch of cry babies. Good lord. It's very difficult to go 11-1 or 12-0 on the season. One slip up, one bad call, one fumble and your chances are gone. Too bad the Clown's one slip up, one bad call, one fumble happen to occur 8 or 9 times a season.

Actually they have one game a year where the slip up/bad call/fumble costs them the game. The other 9 loss a year are them just getting their azzes kicked.

So true. I don't really think about OSU because we aren't competing with them for a spot if we win. But how can they rip on what we've done to deserve 5th when they are in 3rd by doing less?

huge shock. I thought Iowa would move up one spot, two at the most. At least they're rightfully above stanford.

Anyone who says that about Hank Aaron oughta be radioactive to reputable media outlets. What an epic dbag. F that loser.

That question was brought up on ESPN and one of the guys said he thought Iowa would beat Stanford on a neutral field.I agree. Go Hawks. PS Rose Bowl isn't a neutral field besides with time zone change we probably cant beat any team out there any way just like them coming in our time zone.

I love how Joey Galloway pointed out that the others probably haven't seen Iowa play much

Those couple of seconds where they had not shown Iowa yet and there were only 6 spots left were more exciting than Selection Sunday in March -

relevance in November is the Best!! This Saturday could be one of the greatest days in Iowa athletics history from 7:00am to Midnight.

When they began to show the Top 10 I looked for Iowa and when I didn't see them I thought WTF. I then thought six and was thrilled. Five is beyond awesome and now we have to work to keep it. The target on our back just became larger.

From CF:

Honestly, this whole process is not working. It's creating a lot of unnecessary animosity. It happened to me last year with that debacle and I ended up cancelling TV this year. I have not watched as much football as a result. I don't know why but pitting everyone against each other with only 4 spots and 5 main conferences, with a politically motivated small committee, is NOT working

Is this real life? LOL what kind of loser is getting so worked up about these rankings that they are watching less football and "cancelling TV" this year. Clone fans are a special kind of stupid.

ISU fans are still watching football???? Are you sure they aren't confused and they think this is the BB selection committee, wondering how they aren't in the final four?
