Super Bowl line surprising....

I fully anticipated opening my sportsbook page and seeing Pittsburgh -2 or -4. But the Packers? The packers are favored by 3? I am so surprised. i quickly bet the game because that could be -1 or a pick'em by game time. Did anyone else see what a 3rd string QB did in the NFC championship game against the packers? Now what can a two-time superbowl champ do to them?

Doesn't surprise me, that crap happens all the time when a team preps for only the starter and doesn't really have any idea what a 3rd string QB is going to do...

Hell look what happened to Iowa against Michigan...came in prepared for their starting QB....and did well against him, but as soon as backup came in he threw all over them...

If it looks too good to be true, it usually is. I've learned my lesson many times. Take the Pack laying the 3.

If you're betting Packers wait for the line to come down. It's not going to go up so it doesn't hurt to wait. (unless of course Big Ben breaks his leg falling down the stairs or something)

The line is crazy but is as such to get more people to bet on both sides. You can't bet against Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl. No way. Packers will go down.

No surprise here. There's been a ton of public money on the Pack all playoffs, and they've been covering every week. Sportsbooks are just trying to get it evened out this week.

Also, did you see what Mark Sanchez did against the Pittsburgh defense in the second half? Can you imagine what a good QB can do to them.

How/why are you surprised? The Packers are going to be the overwhelming pick by the public, while "professional" gamblers take the Steelers. The Packers have won 5 elimination game in a row, with the last 3 coming on the road. The Packers have 15 guys on injured reserve.

That third string QB played well, but also threw two interceptions that doomed his team.

After reading the headline of your post but before reading the body of the post, I thought to myself "What should the line be?" I came up with Packers -3, so I am not surprised.

I'm a Steeler fan & I like that they are the underdog.
#2, most Steeler games come down to the end.
#3, I wouldn't bet against Ben if it comes down to the end.

Line seems right. Arodg and co lit up the #6 pass def in the NFL in Georgia Dome a couple weeks ago. They're basically a turf team that plays on grass the majority of the year. Think Rams circa 98-99

I'd def take Pack at the -2.5. More than that would be pushing it as Steelers don't get blown out.

The Steelers will win because the NFL favors them for some reason. Don't be surprised to see some questionable calls/non-calls go their way.

Pitt Dfense is tough as hell

Run game looked real good against good Jets D

Pitt by 7

I'm layin some jack on odds now

Basically all of your posts are a microcosm of the internal/external debate I had following the games yesterday. steelers can play horrible and still win. if it comes down to being close like the most of you think- wouldn't you hate to be the one's laying points? After a day of pondering i still conclude the same way, Pitt will win because of experience and defense. The packers are no different than what Arizona was a couple years back, very little/no running game to show for - I look for Pittsburgh to make Packers one dimensional and the Steelers should be able to move the ball on the ground.

Pittsburgh 24 - Green Bay 20.

People said the Bears would do the same thing yesterday. Didn't happen.

In the Packers last 4 games indoors, they've scored 45, 31, 7, and 48 points. Pick out which one of those numbers don't fit the others and then remind yourself that the Super Bowl is inside.

I think the Packer's were playing against an overrated team. It's easy to say after the fact, but stay with me here....

The Bears (w/Cutler making his first -ever- Playoff start at any level) won against arguably the worst playoff team in the Seahawks. I would argue that the Bears did very well against the Packers with their game plan. Rogers had 0 TD's and 2 INT's vs the Bears. The Packers did run on the Bears, but both the Packer line & RB's are not as good as the Jet's line & RB's which the steelers eliminated from the game. The Steelers will "allow" the run & focus on the passing attack of Rogers. By doing so they will allow the game to be a time of possession and ground and pound defensive battle. Rogers is a better "QB" than Big Ben, but Big Ben is a better "Player." -if that makes sense. Plus the "been there" factor is substantially with Big Ben.

To me this is a lock.

Signed,

The Patriots are going to destroy the Jets.

people were basing that assertion off of the result earlier in the year. The Packers did not play the Steelers, but if you had to dissect the outcomes of the game based off of the match-ups you would have to agree that it is more favorable for the Steelers (both tangible and non-tangible variables) no?

I was surprised too. I thought Pittsburgh -3. Anyway, I'll take the Steelers. Big Ben will have a big game and the Steeler defense WILL stop Rogers.

Where are you getting your info? Here are their dome games this season:
At Atlanta (playoffs), 48-21 W
At Detroit (12/12), 7-3 L
At Atlanta (11/28), 20-17 L
At Minnesota (11/21), 31-3 W

The only time they scored 45 in the regular season was against Dallas at Lambeau Field.
