Stupid pre game player circles

I see now that Iowa is using that pregame deal where the team circles around jumping with one guy in the middle doing something stupid. Every time I see this it makes sick. Guys should not be compelled to do something that humiliating before a game. Not only is it strange to have arms around another guy but I am sure it is also distracting to game preparation and the repeated jumping can wear out the leg muscles. Players should have fresh legs and be focused for the game. I am certain that the circle has cost the team a few close games this year. I hope they stop it.

I know it is verboten to post images in srs sports threads but I don't deem this one srs.

How can I be the only one that does not like these? If my high school coach had asked me to do that garbage I would think he was off his rocker.

Lame attempt... Better luck next time!

I'm sure Fran has to beg Basabe to stand in the middle of a circle but hey Melsahn's a team player.

Well we just might have found out what's wrong with the football team. I would prefer them to just individually walk on to the field not holding hands during pre game to Kenny G

Dumb. I wouldn't participate if my team did that. We could be using that time to be reviewing the gameplan with coaches or taking free throws.

Exactly a few more free throws and a few less in game mistakes could have won atleast two additional games this year. Practice and preparation is more valuable than jumping around in a human circle.

As a HS coach who's team has a pregame that I absolutely despise, the fact is that it is not something that is "practiced" or worked on in practice. As with most teams, the players do this while starters are being announced and it is not a situation in which your team should be coached up. It's something the players generally come up with that they think is cool to help motivate them and get them fired up. There is a great deal of time spent studying the effects that standing around/coching a team up at halftime (10-15 minutes) has on a players heart rate once the second half begins and the amount of time it takes to get that players heart rate back to where it was when the half ended and they were "in the flow of the game" and not sluggish. Generally in the amount of time that the players go back into the tunnel, come back to the bench area and then stand around for a national anthem and starting lineups the amount of time that goes by is generally between 5 and 10 minutes. The fact is that whaat we consider a stupid routine, may actually give a team and edge in the event that it keeps their heart rate up and prevents a sluggish start.

^^^^^ Note: I'd be more than willing to bet that no team has ever lost a game because they circled up or had some sort of pregame ritual.

You're looking at it all wrong. Plus, you honestly think by doing a little dance these college athletes are going to "wear out their leg muscles?" You must be dumber than your OP suggests. You're not a part of this team, so why don't you just go wait in the car, square.
