Stupid pre game player circles

Girls teams are smart ... they lay down so they don't hurt their legs. :)

How can I be the only one that does not like these? If my high school coach had asked me to do that garbage I would think he was off his rocker.

You're not the only one who does not like it. However, you're the only one who felt compelled enough to start a thread about it rather than just rolling your eyes. You also said that it effects their leg muscles enough to have an adverse effect on the game, which is a stupid comment.

Before this site got so serious I'da posted some .jpg referring to Native Americans and alcohol. Can I be a mod now?

Exactly a few more free throws and a few less in game mistakes could have won atleast two additional games this year. Practice and preparation is more valuable than jumping around in a human circle.

I remember a quote from Tiger Woods in a book he wrote on how to play golf. Said he never pulled out the driver in warmups before a round. His logic was that if you don't have your stroke when you step on the course, you're not going to find it in a 5-minute warmup.

An extra couple minutes of shootaround time or prep time in the locker room is not going to make a difference at this level. You prep during the week, not 5 minutes before the game.

I sort of take the same approach with my golf game- I very rarely take a practice swing. My reason for this is different however. I'm afraid my practice swing will be better than my real swing and don't want to take that risk!

Racist ban for this guy ^^^^^ IMHO.

Hip-hop, not country music is a part of the basketball culture and it gets them pumped up before a big game that they've practiced and prepared for all week. Big whoopopotamus. I wouldnt participate b/c i am a horrible dancer unless I am at a wedding and gooooulashed.

First off I am not old. Second race has nothing to do with it. I see players of multiple races making fools of themselves to multiracial audiences. Point taken about the heart rate however. Could this not be done with rapid lay up drills like what we used to do. Maybe add a few laps around the court. Worm ups like those are also easier on the legs. That is a big deal for us big guys. As far as motivation goes a team captain should be making a motivational speech before the game.

Agree.

And those of us who went through the tortures of post-high school education....it was always funny seeing people "cramming" 5 minutes before an exam....frantically poring over notes, looking at their multi-colored highlights for the 100th time....absorbing nothing.

Say what? If you didn't know your stuff right before entering the exam, well, see you in summer school chap!

They practice and prepare all week. You really think a circle before a game affects play and has cost them a couple losses?? Wow!!

and Thirdly this thread is stupid.. For anyone to claim a pre-game circle is costing us victories, that is just ignorance.

I see now that Iowa is using that pregame deal where the team circles around jumping with one guy in the middle doing something stupid. Every time I see this it makes sick. Guys should not be compelled to do something that humiliating before a game. Not only is it strange to have arms around another guy but I am sure it is also distracting to game preparation and the repeated jumping can wear out the leg muscles. Players should have fresh legs and be focused for the game. I am certain that the circle has cost the team a few close games this year. I hope they stop it.

I hope the arms around each other isn't turning our players gay.
