Strength up the middle-Iowa's D

Iowa has traditionally been strong if they are strong up the middle...usually a baseball phrase, but it applies to football, too, IMO...if an Iowa team has solid DTs, MLBer and Safeties, they typically are pretty tough to beat (this could probably apply to any team)...watching LSU V. Iowa replay right now and Iowa had:

DTs: Babs/Lubs

Inside LBers: Greenway/Hodge

Safeties: Paschal/Considine

(5/6 played or playing in NFL)

Pretty good up the middle. Next year concerns me:

DTs: Daniels/Bigach?

MLBers: Morris/? DiBona?

S: Sash/Miller

Can we get enough depth or will someone step up? Nardo, Carl Davis, Tony Ferguson, will Bruce Davis come back? Can Tanner Miller make plays? Will Sash stay healthy? Is Kirksey ready? Will Nielsen play again? A lot of questions.

Iowa better be a developmental program next yr.

This year's weakness (LBs) will become a strength next season, because of the experience the pups have gotten, but the line will need to step up quickly to keep the OL off of the backers or teams won't need to dink and dunk on us...they'll be able to run it down our throats instead.

It's not rebuild, it's reload. The DL will be just fine. Daniels, Daniel and Binns is as good as line as we have about any year. Give them one more year experience and they can shine.
The LBers will be good next year as well. ** Barring injury ** Our LBers would have been good this year, if it were not for the injury bug, that so often effects our RBs. This year, our middle linebacker, while getting better, wasn't on the 2 deep at the beginning of the season.... Morris will be a stud... Getting Neilsen & Davis back will be huge next season. Both should recover just fine. We will have experience and depth to start. Then again, we said that about this years LBers. Maybe not so much the experience, but plenty of depth we had.
