Story with Latest on Charlie Moore & Iowa

Also with a second visit to UCONN before visiting us it appears our vital signs maybe fading. Would think his mom would put a kabash to that since he already jumped into UNLV with out thinking things through. A prudent mother would say hey before we leap we should look at Iowa first. If Vitale gives us the sorry Charlie treatment it would be funny if we end up with more....... I mean Moore.

I love to eat out and Iowa could end up COOKing MOoRE. Okay Okay I"lol stop with the corny remarks.

As stated previously, Iowa is a HUGE long shot for Christian Vital and UConn is a heavy favorite. Didn't take a bb recruiting genius to figure that out. Not even tea leaves were needed.

In a 3 horse race with UConn, Lville, and Iowa, the Hawks are finishing a straight ahead back.

Not rude. Just reality.

If Moore comes to Iowa, I'd be even more shocked than if Vital doesn't go to UConn.........unless Ollie leaves for the Lakers, that is.

Sounds like immediate playing time is huge for moore based on his comments after committing and decommiting from Memphis. I'm not sure what team can offer it better than iowa. Fran should use Gesell as a perfect example of a 4 year guard for iowa

Ok, so why doesn't he just commit to UCONN?

Recruiting quite often is a very fluid process. What might be the case one day (or sometimes by the hour) can change quickly. I do my best to follow the process, talk to as many people as I can and see where it leads me, knowing full well there are sometimes agendas.

The late period is insane for basketball. The demand far outweighs the supply and frequently these are kids who are either transferring from a school or have de-committed from a school. They're going to be very cautious and very thorough in most instances.

Fran and his staff offer a lot of kids knowing they'll only get around three or so per class. Predicting they're not going to get the majority of those kids is your safest bet to be accurate. You just hope they can get enough good ones and the pieces fit together for success.

Regarding Vital, based on his comments, he was surprised by Fran's visit to his school and by the conversation he had with Fran. I think that is why he hasn't committed yet. Fran's visit was impressive and he decided to give Iowa a full review and chance. He may still pick UL or UConn, but I feel like he's being fair to Iowa.

Regarding Moore, I feel for the kid having to deal with this when he wasn't planning on it. Hopefully, Iowa is being tactful and alert with his situation.

This.. Between that and he and Cook having had played together and are communicating one would think Iowa has the inside track for him. But I guess whatever drama that'd happened during his previous recruitment had to have been either ironed out or whatever... I would think the bottom line is both are perfect for each other. I don't think he'll find a better fit where he can be closer to home, and play right away with an uptempo style. PG should be a position Fran should excel at recruiting.

We have so much playing time to offer, if Fran doesn't get one of the two that's going to be really disappointing.

Rob, couple of questions:

Has CM visited Iowa City before? I thought he did but couldn't remember for sure.

Any idea when we may hear about visits? It sounds like this process is moving rather fast.

Lastly, who do you think the other horses are in the race? I know a lot of schools have been mentioned. As I said earlier Illini fans think he's theirs to lose. Just wondering if you had any idea on who may be the favorites at this point.

I don't believe CM has visited Iowa, at least not in the last few years. And that was part of the issue the first time around in us recruiting him.

Not sure when we'll hear about visits but it seems like he's getting closer to that point. And he's a high enough profile recruit where we should hear about it when it happens.

I really don't have a handle on who would be his favorites. There's speculation on who they are, but nothing concrete from CM or his coaches.

Speculation I've seen is the favorites are Illinois, Cal and Georgia Tech. I'm not optimistic about Moore or Vital at this point.

I'm not ready to give up. Iowa has more momentum than Illinois or GT and a lot closer to home than Cal, although that's the one that makes me a little nervous. But if he wants PT and to play with a friend, Iowa has to be in the mix.

After looking around I would say ILL, GT, & Iowa are the favorites. Cal was previously involved so they may still be a player. I'm starting to like our chances actually...

Moore stated through his handlers that he likes Iowa which probably means he isn't going to go to Iowa. Moore would be fun to watch. I've been looking forward to seeing Williams and Bohannon at the point guard position so it doesn't really mean a great deal to me if Moore comes to Iowa or not. They say Moore isn't a great shooter, but he was rated the #1 player in Illinois so he must have high potential at the college level.

Averaged 28 points, seven assists, and five steals his senior year. Yeah, probably high potential at the college level.

Fran has a very poor track record in recruiting strong lead guards. Gesell is the only one with a pedigree he has kept on campus.
