Story w/ KF Quotes on his Future

At first I thought this would be a typical statement to assist with recruitment, because you KNOW other teams are using Kirk's age as a negative recruiting tool. But this actually sounds like the Kirk we've known for decades. As upset as he was earlier this week at his presser, he's a resilient dude and he's demonstrated an ability to persist and recover from setbacks over the years. In his mind, you can see he's already compartmentalized this as just another bump in the road to be overcome.
He's continually said as long as he's in good health he'll stay in the game. As fresh as this episode is, it appears he's already moving beyond it and looking forward.
He ain't goin' nowhere, and I suspect that's a relief and is positive news for most Iowa players.
Except QB Labas, of course.

I listened to the radio show as I was running a couple errands and what stuck out to me is how comfortable Kirk sounded on the radio. He seemed to be in a better place after a couple days and didn't make any snide comments. He just sounded good on the radio.

Great points. The thing we aren't looking at since Goetz made the move is the fact that (1) KF no longer is "that guy" who has to make the toughest coaching decision of his life and (2) BF no longer has to be that guy that doesn't have any answers but can't walk away from the program or the team he was a part of.

The writing is on the wall that it could have major repercussions, but the fact is maybe Goetz did them both a huge favor and took the knife out of their backs by no longer delaying the inevitable. I could see how this would be a huge thing to swallow initially for them both, but could be viewed by both of them as a best case scenario moving forward.

Well said.
One of the most interesting things Kirk said at his Tuesday presser when asked about Brian's 25pt/7win contract was something along the lines of "Brian decided to sign that contract, and I guess he felt that was his best option." Which implies that Barta may well have given another option, such as "You can sign this contract, or you can resign." Whatever the other "option" was, it was less attractive to him than signing that contract and being publicly embarrassed on a national level.
