STOP Going to the games

The military may have to resort to something worse than water boarding. "Captain nothing has worked. We have tried water boarding and even toe nail removal and the terrorist are still withholding information." "I know it's against the Genova convention and I hate to use this as we could get in B1G trouble, but bring out the I love Kirk Ferentz tee shirt and treaten to put it on him."

I will watch the remainder of the Hawkeye games. Very disappointed so far, but still have compassion for the team. They are and should play better than this.

The enthusiasm and fun of playing football have vanished the past three games. Occasionally it is on display, but not for the majority of the individual games.

The Offensive Line must allow CJ time to regain his ability. He seems somewhat tentative this season, especially the past three games. NDSU, Rutgers and NW. If the O Line does not get it together, it might not make any difference if Stanley is taking snaps.

Last season, there was a pattern. We would gain a substantial lead in the first half, third quarter and then hold on for the win. Sometimes in dramatic fashion, for example the Field Goal for the win against Pitt with the clock running out.

After CJ's groin injury became a factor, the last half of the season was shaky at times. The O Line held very well and permitted CJ to remain in the pocket with time to throw. Every game toward the end of the season, I was waiting for the hit that would end the season for CJ. Fortunately the line held and provided protection until the Stanford game. This season he does not seem comfortable at all. Apparently awaiting another sack, false start, dropped pass, long gain or TD called back, and obvious penalties not called against the opponent. All those factors would affect the most competent player. If we continue to provide NO protection, this season is theoretically finished.

We seem so slow chasing the opponents around their backfield attempting to tackle the ball carrier/handler, that it is sadly comical at times. The Keystone Kops running the field.

We dearly miss Travon and Canzeri on the attack. Sheel looks like he is going to be very big for the Hawks. Must assimilate him into the schemes immediately.

Despite all that, I will be watching every game and cheering the Lads on, just as I did for every one of the basketball games during the LickEra. Every Game. Only person I know who did. Most friends, Hawk Alums and all eventually stopped watching at all. I kept watching for improvement and enjoyed the occasional big victory. Only one I can recall is defeating the spartans at Carver, holding them to their, at the time, lowest point total during the Izzo era.

Here's Hoping the Hawks quickly regroup.

I, of course, believe they will, just not certain about the game at Minny next Saturday. Had doubts about that one before the season started. The gophers have been difficult at times for the Hawks and remember: Who Hates Iowa.

Who can blame them after we rub a very nice victory in their pasty faces

Oh, Yes, Let Us See It Happen Again

I was there watching all the Lickliter games to the bitter end. There were a few of us that posted as we posted on the live thread over at hawk forum. I know a few of them are over here now on this sports forum.

I appreciate your loyalty through such malaise, but I can't help but seriously wonder if we are shooting ourselves in the foot by continuing to support such bad coaching. Why should the powers that be ever change as long as fans keep supporting this?

If people stop going to games pretty soon we would be Purdue and then what.

News flash we are approaching Purdue level. So you want us to maintain an Indiana level? We definitely are not equal to Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, or Wisconsin. We probably come closer to Penn State and Nebraska but that would even be questionable. What's next Indiana and Maryland? Is that what you are afraid of losing by fans not supporting this program. That mindset is what is causing the problem. I am part of the problem but I am running out of gas.

We at this point could realistically be looking at 5-7 this year (or worse) even with a very favorable schedule. The schedule only get rougher in coming years. I hope something clicks with this team and they come out of this funk they are in. I say funk but it could be something much worse than just a bad streak.

This is a ridiculous statement and you know it. We are no where near Purdue level. If you want to stop going to games that your choice.

Season ticket holders are like average golfers.

They hack around, get sick of the performance and their game in general and threaten to quit.

Then, they have one wonderful round, playing par, and they yet again sign up for next year's membership dues.

You will notice I said APPROACHING a Purdue level and not that we are at that level. The way we are playing I would place us somewhere between Indiana and Penn State but closer to Indiana but maybe slightly better than them.

I don't know what the solution is to how poorly we are playing. I am shocked as I expected a great season and it is disappointing beyond words.

CJ was injured last season and was expected to be more mobile and at full capicity yet he seems to have digressed. He possibly could be hurt and we don't know it.

The offensive line was highly praised and expected to be very good and they appear to be the weakest part of the team with a close competition with the defense. It's like everything that was expected of the team is opposite of what we are seeing.

LOL Its a game. We got beat. We aren't having a good season. Hang out with your families. Read a book. Learn a new skill. Life will go on. Players play, coaches coach. Short of doing it for them, players have to step up and perform. They are not. The offensive line, those boys need to go a penitentiary and toughen up a bit. I think losing two good leaders in the o line and some leadership and plus lackluster play at the DT positions and ..boom. Ride it out and hope for 8 wins. Expect 7. Start complaining IF it gets to 6.

No. Just no. For people who wish to turn a blind eye to the realities of this football program then yes I guess that is fine.

This statement from above reminds of...

That's just football...

It's just comical that us fans are watching this same story again. We know whats coming and half of us have just givin up with this program. I'm not even mad. I should be.

Fine all you fair weather fans you can stay home, it will make it easier for truly loyal fans such as myself to get a better seat. I won't stop going, that's for sure. I would also love to be closer so the refs can hear what I have to say to them for their biased officiating or just awful officiating.

He Probably doesn't even care about the sport or ever winning on the big stage.

Although he is right about spending more time with family and friends then following this college football program. I would compare the Iowa fan base to the same type of who died in Waco, Texas, or the Jim Jones followers.

Really does it make sense to keep going through this agony for a decade. What makes people dawn on the HAWKEYE gear when history has proven that the program at best is mediocre. I am guilty as charged.

If Fran pisses down his leg this year and next I am going to go in for professional help to see if I can be de-programmed from the occult like grip that hawkeyeism causes.

I am not sure you are right about Iowa fans. Lots of empty seats at Kinnick yesterday. Packed houses all over the place in college football but not at Iowa. (coming off a Rose Bowl) Hawk fans have to stop patting themselves on the back, because compared to many programs, we are not that loyal. KF is truly sucking the life out of the program.

No, it's just a football game. Every rage-a-holic on here needs to get some perspective on life. Lol I'm disappointed as well. But I'm not going to jump off a damn bridge or make myself look like a fool yelling at a coaching staff online because of the performance of 18-22 year old kids. Perspective. Life perspective. Be disappointed but put a limit on it. Good Lord.

good stuff there. before I get on with my life, I need to wallow in this s h I t for just a bit longer.
Haha I wallowed trust me. I hate it. I want to be 5-0. I can't watch sports shows for 4 days now. Ugh. But, next Saturday there is another game. And I'll be watching and cheering and hoping.

As a 9 hdcp, this is absolutely accurate.

Keep it up and someday you'll be able to sit on Kirk's lap.

You may be right that Iowa fans are starting to see the light (or darkness) of where KF is taking this program. It's hard to tell from watching the crowds on TV because it looked like the stadium was full yesterday. I guess in a way I hope you are right because the fans shouldn't be supporting this kind of football. When it gets to a point where it's one third full then maybe the morons that hired Barta will figure that it's time for him to go. I've had enough of KF and am fine with a new coach. His stick has worn out its welcome and it's time for him to go.

Having said that I realize we are stuck like a cooked turkey on thanksgiving day.
