STOP Going to the games

LOL Its a game. We got beat. We aren't having a good season. Hang out with your families. Read a book. Learn a new skill. Life will go on. Players play, coaches coach. Short of doing it for them, players have to step up and perform. They are not. The offensive line, those boys need to go a penitentiary and toughen up a bit. I think losing two good leaders in the o line and some leadership and plus lackluster play at the DT positions and ..boom. Ride it out and hope for 8 wins. Expect 7. Start complaining IF it gets to 6.

good stuff there. before I get on with my life, I need to wallow in this s h I t for just a bit longer.

if we lose our next two road games (I'm glad they are on the road) I may not go to any more home games this year.

Well said. The whole post is spot on, especially the bolded part. I wish it wouldn't have taken me so long to learn this but it has been a long time since I've let Iowa games ruin a Saturday. It used to be a regular occurrence. The flip side is that I didn't enjoy last season as much as I should have ( I purposely schedule things on many fall Saturdays to keep me busy) but times like now don't bother me nearly as much as they used to.

When your goal as a fan is to NOT CARE about your team . . . you have two choices.

You can stop being a fan

Or, you can fire your coach.

Take a guess which one sounds more reasonable????

There's a huge difference between those two things though. You have control whether to be a fan or not, whereas you have almost zero control on hiring/firing.

Regardless, I choose to be a Hawkeye fan.

As an individual yes, but when fans act collectively . . .

I for one fight for the things I luv rather than become indifferent.

I could go either way on that one, middle of the road, six of one , half dozen of other. With you 50% percent, all in, almost.

A friend just texted this to me. It has to wrong.

"I just checked and Kirk Ferentz at Iowa is 130 wins and 88 losses. .596 winning percentage." He said that included all the cupcakes he schedules. Is that correct? I guess sixty-five million dollars doesn't go as far as it used to go.

You write the above yet you are lurking on this fan site instead of taking your own advice.

He Probably doesn't even care about the sport or ever winning on the big stage.

Although he is right about spending more time with family and friends then following this college football program. I would compare the Iowa fan base to the same type of who died in Waco, Texas, or the Jim Jones followers.

Really does it make sense to keep going through this agony for a decade. What makes people dawn on the HAWKEYE gear when history has proven that the program at best is mediocre. I am guilty as charged.

If Fran pisses down his leg this year and next I am going to go in for professional help to see if I can be de-programmed from the occult like grip that hawkeyeism causes.

You know what I did today? Not go to Kinnick, not watch on TV, and not get my Saturday ruined by thinking I financially supported mediocrity. I listened on AM radio while helping my son work on his house. Barely listened in the 4th. I feel much better than I did last weekend and I've realized one thing. I love my Hawkeyes, so I will not support another dumpster fire year after the once in a lifetime season we had last year. No excuse for what is happening. I applaud King for having the sack to speak out from behind the curtain. It starts and ends with Barta, when he's gone, I'll be back

My brother who lives in Cedar Rapids just bought today a really nice leather Iowa jacket and is sending it to me for my special needs son. My son loves the Hawkeyes and calls me at work during games to keep me updated. If this fiasco continues the rest of the season it will be hard to watch him put that jacket on when we go out in public.

I hope no one makes fun of him.

Barta would say its a success if the stadium was hit by an asteroid and destroyed.

OMG!!!!!

LMAO!!!!!

Thanks I needed a good laugh!!!!! Everyone in the office is probably wondering what the hell is so funny.

Just think how lucky we are. There are no college football fans that are in a more effed up position. We gotta sit here and put up with this absolutely ridiculous crap for ever........... tears, wailing, co-workers must think I am bi-polar. :(

If you are fed up with this staff and the direction of this program ( we WILL lose recruits--look at what's already happening on their social media), STOP attending the games. When Kinnick is empty, only then will this inept UI admin get the picture. When the football money stops flowing in, we might see some movement.
I quit following Iowa football when Ferentz hired his son as the offensive line coach. When the athletic director gave Ferentz a raise and extension this year, I thought the good times would go away. Its pretty exciting reading these boards year after year on how inept Ferentz is. Its probably going to go on for the next ten years.

I will watch the remainder of the Hawkeye games. Very disappointed so far, but still have compassion for the team. They are and should play better than this.

The enthusiasm and fun of playing football have vanished the past three games. Occasionally it is on display, but not for the majority of the individual games.

The Offensive Line must allow CJ time to regain his ability. He seems somewhat tentative this season, especially the past three games. NDSU, Rutgers and NW. If the O Line does not get it together, it might not make any difference if Stanley is taking snaps.

Last season, there was a pattern. We would gain a substantial lead in the first half, third quarter and then hold on for the win. Sometimes in dramatic fashion, for example the Field Goal for the win against Pitt with the clock running out.

After CJ's groin injury became a factor, the last half of the season was shaky at times. The O Line held very well and permitted CJ to remain in the pocket with time to throw. Every game toward the end of the season, I was waiting for the hit that would end the season for CJ. Fortunately the line held and provided protection until the Stanford game. This season he does not seem comfortable at all. Apparently awaiting another sack, false start, dropped pass, long gain or TD called back, and obvious penalties not called against the opponent. All those factors would affect the most competent player. If we continue to provide NO protection, this season is theoretically finished.

We seem so slow chasing the opponents around their backfield attempting to tackle the ball carrier/handler, that it is sadly comical at times. The Keystone Kops running the field.

We dearly miss Travon and Canzeri on the attack. Sheel looks like he is going to be very big for the Hawks. Must assimilate him into the schemes immediately.

Despite all that, I will be watching every game and cheering the Lads on, just as I did for every one of the basketball games during the LickEra. Every Game. Only person I know who did. Most friends, Hawk Alums and all eventually stopped watching at all. I kept watching for improvement and enjoyed the occasional big victory. Only one I can recall is defeating the spartans at Carver, holding them to their, at the time, lowest point total during the Izzo era.

Here's Hoping the Hawks quickly regroup.

I, of course, believe they will, just not certain about the game at Minny next Saturday. Had doubts about that one before the season started. The gophers have been difficult at times for the Hawks and remember: Who Hates Iowa.

Who can blame them after we rub a very nice victory in their pasty faces

Oh, Yes, Let Us See It Happen Again
