Stoops as AD?

My son is at the Fiesta Bowl kickoff luncheon. Stoops is the Keynote speaker and has said a lot of good things about Iowa!
I think he would be a great choice for AD if Barta was to leave for any number of reasons!

Last year in an interview, Gary said he plans on staying at Iowa until he retires, and he's like in his early 50's. So, unless he is fired or dies, we are stuck with him

As long as he keeps raking in the $$$, he'll ride off into the sunset when he wants, irrespective of performance of the sports teams.
 
Whoever the AD is has to be accepting of the fact that he’s a cuckhold to the football coach. Bob Stoops would never, ever be ok with taking orders from Brian Ferentz.

Aside from that, Stoops retired because he said he’s sick of the rat race and he doesn’t want to end up like his dad who “went from the sideline to the grave” and didn’t get to enjoy his grandchildren and retirement. He’s already a bazillionaire who somehow slid out after the Joe Mixon scandal without a scratch. Why would he want to take a shit job being the whipping boy at Iowa when he can literally do whatever he wants, whenever he wants everyday for the rest of his life?

i believe kirk and gary are tied together at the hip. i further believe that kirk is going to retire soon...perhaps as soon as after this season and ol' gary will be here to go through the motions of a coaching search then miraculously determine brian is the best candidate for the job. then gary will retire. then bring in B.S who won't take any B.S. from the new HC.

brian would have zero sway over stoops. brian would as much sway over gary as kirk.

i think stoops would seriously consider iowa AD for no other reason than for the challenge of it and love of the university.

just recently, Barta was quoted saying he hopes that Kirk is our head coach for 10 more years. He'd be in his 70's by then!

oh, who knows. i have it in my head that kirk wants brian to have enough time to wind up as the all time winningest caoch at iowa breaking kirks record. kirk would be well into his 80's so he would need to retire soon.

I guess our best bet is Belichik retires before Kirk. The Patriots would be stupid to pass on Brian. Because you know he used to coach their tight ends and he is that good.

Bob Stoops for AD? Way too sexy for this program and would bring expectations synonymous with program progression that we fans would not be accustomed to experiencing around here.

Stoop's father literally "went from the sideline to the grave." He was coaching a high school game in 1988 in Youngstown when he succumed. He was 54 years old. Booby has stated what you said about getting out with his health intact and wanteing to enjoy retirement and the grandchildren.

I generally agree with you, but it could go either way. Some people thrive on that freedom and some people need to work. That said, I don’t know why he’d choose to come to Iowa. There’s a lot sweeter gigs that he could pretty easily get.
 
Barta is pretty much unfireable it looks like so as long as he wants to keep that gig he's got it. I don't foresee any changes there anytime soon. (Granted prior to the ruling on the lesbian chicks case I thought Barta was a dead man walking and especially right after the ruling so what the heck do I know)
