Stone Cold Upsets & Lead Pipe Locks - Week 7

Did you just really go into that much detail to explain a betting concept that a 4th grader could understand? I think you did

Not sure why you are trying to come off as a professional handicapper....

I struggled with stats and probability in college I wouldn't been able to comprehend even if he knew what he was talking about....which he doesn't. let him live his 'rounders' moment.:D

in no way am i a professional handicapper, anybody that claims to be is a liar ( or is in hock a ton). I do bet pretty frequently the Big Ten. I typically break even, last year i was +$1,000 (with much of that coming from my Iowa Moneyline bet at Penn State, i got it early at +390). I usually start with $400 and $20 wagers, mixing in some parlays when i get a hunch. Where I have been most successful this year have been (-300) or better ML parlays of 7-10 teams. Usually about a 4-1 payout.

Mainly it is just to get more into the games outside of the iowa games. when the $400 is gone- it is gone. Like earlier in the year during week 2 (ISU week) I loved sitting up at Midnight waiting for the result of the final leg of my ten team parlay Stanford @ UCLA- needing stanford to win, and they did. Saturdays like that is why I love the Fall and Football season.

I just bet a 7-game progressive parlay.

$5 to win $200. I need to get 5 out of 7 right to win the bet. Here are my games:

Washington St +23.5 vs Arizona

Arkansas +3.5 at Auburn

Cal +2.5 at USC

Iowa -3.5 at Michigan

OU -22 vs ISU

Texas +10 at Nebraska

Utah -21 at Wyoming

I feel pretty good about these 7 games, especially only needing to go 5-2. If I win I win, if I lose I lose, right? :)

I'll bite......i have a paypal account, but i haven't used it in forever, i want to say passwords and bank accounts have changed so i'll make a wager for signatures..... don't know what that entails, but it is not monetary so i don't care....I'll take the steelers -14 and if anyone else scores beside Cribbs or the Fg kicker I'll will also change my avatar to a clone or a chief for a week your choice.

alright it's a deal, (-14) and if i lose I will change mine to a pic of big ben next to the sasquatch from the beef jerky comercials. For your avatar it can be just a Chief or whatever you want chief oriented, but we only have to keep it for a week.

no need to swap signatures, avatar is a better idea

Iowa fans need to really pull of OSU. I think we win today and we win out. We have the potential to play an undefeated Michigan St team at home and an undefeated OSU team at home. Both teams would most likely be in the top 10 if they remain unbeaten when we play them. It would look REALLY good if we could win out and have 2 top 10 victories.

I see Ohio St. pulling this one out somehow....like they always seem to do.

SOOO... I went 5-2, which means I won the bet. However, being the rookie that I am, clearly I did NOT understand the way it works. The only way my $5 bet wins the $200 is if I win ALL 7 games. I was all excited about winning the $200 after Washington State covered, then I went to the website to check my payout and realized I only won $7.50. What the F***! They should really reword that and make it clearer than they do. They say you can "afford to lose 2 games when you bet 7-9" so that is the way I understood it. Now I may not do these parlays anymore. I may just pick individual games. I think 5-2 against the spread is pretty good, honestly.

Anyone else do the progressive parlays?

Call it even......Steelers covered, but someone else scored besides Cribbs.....McCoy played better than I thought..... If I had lost my avatar would've been a hot chick in chiefs gear or Moeaki in his chiefs uni.

I did not post these before the games today, but I bet 4 NFL games. Went 3-1. So between college and pro, I went 8-3 ATS this weekend. Not bad. Too bad they were both progressive parlays, so I definitely did not win much.

The NFL games I picked were close:

Baltimore +2.5 at New England- LOSS (NE won by 3 in OT)

Minnesota -1.5 vs Dallas- WIN (Minnesota won by 3)

NYJ -3 at Denver- WIN (NYJ won by 4)

Pittburgh -14 vs Cleveland- WIN (Pitt won by 18 on a garbage time TD pass)

So yeah, 8-3 is pretty damn good, but also pretty damn lucky. How close these NFL games are to the spread is ridiculous. Shows that these guys really know what they are doing! WOW!
