Stokes to announce Thursday

Disappointed but not surprised, instead of being bitter Hawk fans have to figure out a way to improve our athletic programs so we can attract the top talent in Iowa and the country. Football and wrestling have proved it can happen, now the rest of the programs need to follow, whether it be fan support, top coaches$, top facilities$, ect. Build it and they will come! $$$

I think Lisa is doing just this. Is she building UConn II? No. But she has a few real nice classes, a young team that has proven itcan win.

This is also why I will be OK if McCaffery only adds 2 for the 11 classand trust to establish himself a little and sum for the sky in the 12 class.

Did not intend to hijack.

She could very easily still be at Iowa a year or two from now. Geno's approach wears a lot of players out especially if they are not getting playing time. She has two higher rated players in the two classes ahead of her, one if 6'5" and the other 6'3" so she may not see the floor much for the first two years and maybe longer. She is the 42nd rated player in her class which is on the low end of the scale for UConn. Hopefullly, we will see her on the floor for the Hawks within 3 years.

That is kind of what I was thinking too. But this is exactly why a parent should help in the decision because a young person just sees UCONN and says I am going there but don't take everything into consideration. UCONN gets multiple Kiah Stokes' each year and they can't all play. Thats where an adult says hey maybe this isn't the place for us. This is not just in Kiah's situation but in all players recruitment. Thats why I don't think this kind of decision should ever be entirely left up to a 17-18 year old kid. Sorry if I keep getting a little off topic.

I like that Greg didn't try to influence her. She seems to be pretty close with him, and his opinion could very well have made the decision for her, and that's not a good thing. If she ends up transferring somewhere else, fine. But she at least took a shot at playing with the very best.

College is just as much about getting the best deal as pro sports. If Iowa had a lousy journalism program, I would not be here. But they have a top-flight program, therefore I'm here. I don't really care about the community aspect, because that's essentially the bar scene and I don't drink. I came here for the education that I need, and the fact that this is the home of my favorite team is an added bonus.
