Stokes to announce Thursday

Having Kiah on the team would be awesome. They are already really good and she is such a dynamic person that others of her caliber would be wanting to jump on board. We could become the UCONN of the midwest!

Well not so fast. They could be the seed to get something big started but those are huge shoes to fill.

I sure hope she picks Iowa tomorrow. She is really a great young lady as well as being a game changing athlete. Who ever earns her services will be very fortunate.

I felt for a long time that we had no shot. I actually for some reason have a pretty good feeling about her coming to Iowa.

According to a gal I work with (her duaghter's played ball @ Iowa) who has "contacts" that are in the know...she is leaning towards UT

Here's a report that she has committed to UCONN. Keil is the National Director of Scouting for JumpOff.com.

Also, the UCONN board claims Kiah has already informed the coaches involved that she's going to UCONN FWIW.

With all the Iowa connections I couldn't help but be severely disappointed and a little bitter if she does indeed choose UConn. The Iowa women have a really nice team this year, (preseason 25th) and should for the next few years. Stokes would've been another yet another piece to push the program even further.

There are now several other tweets (UCONN commits, etc.) now that are confirming this as well. It would have been a great addition, no doubt.

Can't say I wish her well then. It would be totally different if the women's programs was, say, in the state of the mens program. Then I couldn't blame her. But really? The women are young, finished strong last year and are going to be good this year. I f'n despise UConn women's basketball. Go play in the WNBA.

I agree. I know I am being bitter but she could have helped elevate her home state's program. Maybe it's generational. Kid's don't seem to give a $hit about their home state any longer. It makes me sick. This just makes me pull even harder for the Hawkeye women!

Agreed. Not to mention her DAD played for Iowa and her BROTHER will be playing for Iowa. Definitely bitter. I'm not that much older than she and I would've killed for the opportunity to represent my own state. It would be an added bonus if the program was in the shape that Iowa women's is right now.

I apologize for saying it's generational, Sheagle. When I was growing up, every kid I knew dreamed of playing for the Hawks or the Clones. And when we moved to Kentucky, all the local kids loved either the Cards or the Cats. The Hawkeye women deserve to have some good fortune come their way after all the injuries over the past few seasons. I don't wish Stokes any ill will but I will NEVER pull for her in a UConn jersey!

No worries, dave. I hope I didn't come off like I was mad or anything. I'm not in the least. I completely understand what you're saying, and I too believe it is generational. I was raised a Hawk and wouldn't dream (if given the opportunity) of playing for anyone else. Assuming she was raised one as well (pretty hard to believe otherwise), I just don't understand it. With her and Printy, Johnson, Rogers, Taylor, Iowa could've made some serious noise.
