Is it just me or do these 3 have something in common.
All are examples of visual stereotyping… ie they don’t “look†like they can play ball.
Stephen Curry has a “baby face†and was too skinny coming out of high school and got no major D 1 offers to play BB, despite his pedigree… his freaking old man played in the NBA for over 10 years. (Think back to BJ and his near transfer before Mr. Davis showed up with fresh eyes)
Aaron White is too white and to top it off has a red head.. he cannot play, let alone flourish, immediately as a frosh in D 1, Big Ten BB.
Jeremy Lin is too asian with way too much book smarts … no way can he ball… even though he succeeded in high school in California and at Harvard and now in the NBA…and got over looked and over looked.
It’s really amazing that in the multi billion dollar business of professional basketball... scouting and recruiting (college & NBA included) that over paid insiders miss out because someone doesn’t "look" like he can play basketball.
What’s really scary is the visual stereotyping and “lookism†that runs rampant throughout the rest of our society and that we all are guilty of every day.
