Stay Cassy, Kentucky!

This thread is incredibly political, isn't it? I just wish guys like Sharpton and Obama and (Holder) would be as forgiving and not so strenuously ideological like Frank The Tank..

I also remember the f-word (referring to Gays).... but it meant cigarette.

How about the word niggardly. Several years ago a congressman used the word niggardly when discussing an issue. A local TV station when ballistic about the congressman using racial slurs. The NAACP had to correct the TV station. The word has nothing to do with race. It means cheap, stingy. The next time you are talking about someone who is cheap or stingy use the word niggardly. I bet over eighty percent of the people out there will think you were making a racial slur.

That word doesn't make sense. It should be "jewishdly"

A few years ago, I chided a University Of North Carolina fan who also turned out to be for 'equal rights for African-Americans'.

I pointed out he liked a school that had the team name of tar heels.

Is "Stay Cassy" some sort of slur against people from Kentucky . . . as if they don't even know how to spell "classy?"

Not unlike how some feminists complain about use of the word "*****" (LOL, it's even edited out here on HN... puzzy if that helps) to describe somebody weak. It has nothing to do with female anatomy....it's from the word pusillanimous:

1. lacking courage or resolution; cowardly; faint-hearted; timid.

2. proceeding from or indicating a cowardly spirit.

Any word used to describe a group of people that aren't white males becomes a bad word over time. Waitresses and stewardess became offensive for some ungodly reason because those jobs are primarily done by women. Now we have to call them servers and flight attendants. In about 10 more years those will be offensive too so another name will have to be made up.

The R word became offensive when describing people with mental problems so now we call them mentally handicapped. How offensive will that sound in 10 years? I can hear it now. "They aren't handicapped you insensitive jerk!"

I don't even know what to call the race that has darker skin than white people anymore. It seems like the timeframe for the new term for them has a shorter shelf life than other groups.

When is society going to realize that it isn't the words that are offensive? It's the subject.

Yeah but its not like only woman can use that word.

People can use any word they want, as long as they are willing to deal with people's reactions. There are white people who react to black people using that word. Not on the same scale as black people reacting to white people using it, but there is reaction. 2 things though. Black people in general don't care if white people care, and in general white people don't care.

Redheads in general don't care if people say ginger and white people in general don't care if people say cracker. That's probably why their's not outrage when people use those words. It's also why i don't have to say "the G word and the C word" in fear of getting banned.
