Status on Alaric Jackson?

Spencer Lee wrestled his senior year of HS with a torn ACL.

You can get by with some activities but your knee loses a significant amount of stability. Sprinting and cutting is basically out once you're past the initial adrenaline phase.

Remember when Brandon Scherff hurt his knee early in the season and the next week he was out there suited up and kicking the Ames High Cyclones asses up and down the field?!?!?

He never sounds optimistic or pessimistic. He never sounds like anything. Especially with injuries

Nah, when it comes to injuries, you can tell if he feels optimistic or if he thinks it’s bad news. It’s sorta like deciphering the B1G bus tour....if you’ve heard enough of them, you can kinda learn how to decode...

Like I stated before it looked like a hyperextended knee which takes about a month to recover from.

So if your prediction is correct, Jackson will probably miss Rutgers and ISU, and return for the MTSU game on 9/28.

It would nice to see Jackson get some reps against MTSU to get the rust off and be ready to go full throttle @Mich the following week.

If it was hyperextended, high odds of meniscus and or cartilage damage. MRIs can't always pick it up early with swelling. The degree is critical. However, if your knee hyperextends, something moved that isn't supposed to. We'll see. Wouldn't get overly optimistic.

It depends on how bad it's hyper-extended. I hyper-extended one of my knees while I was playing high School football. Luckily mine wasn't too bad and I only missed one game with virtually no medical treatment.

It's fairly tender for the first week or so, so I highly doubt he'll be back for the Rutgers game. He could play in the ISU game, but may not quite be 100%. It just depends on how bad it was to begin with and how fast he recovers.

This has all been clarified at this point. No surgery. Probably will miss Rutgers, ISU, and cupcake, back for Michigan is likely.

According to Pat Harty who has a source that is good friends with Alaric’s mom, MRI showed no ligament damage. Saying probably 2 weeks. Take it for what it’s worth...

It seems like the knee is either out for the year, or out a couple weeks. Glad its the latter. Just my guess, but I bet he will try like heck to be ready for ISU, and if not, then get him ready for Michigan.

I know he is an All American and likely 1st round pick but I would error on the side of getting him to 100% and not rush him back. Michigan is Oct 5 so that would give him a full 5 weeks to heal up. Not knocking Jackson but I don't think we missed a beat with the guys the came in and plugged and played at different spots. Pass protection was good and run blocking was even better.

Over on CyFan, CyTwins has guaranteed about 2 dozen times that Jackson (and Brents, Banwart, etc) will play in the Super Bowl, because it's the only game KF cares about. Shocker, I know.
