Starting To Also Think It’s Time

Also for anyone who might be offended by me saying his heart isn’t in it, you can still care about your players and love the Hawkeyes without your heart being in it.

I just don’t think losing games bothers him anymore. That’s not fair to players, staff, or fans
100% What better reason is there to be moving on then that? I wish I knew what players think. Or better yet the assistants that have been with him forever. If there's slippage going on or a change in how he's been they'd see it.

Do most people on here want an entirely new coaching staff or just move an assistant into the head coaching job and maintain the program as it is with a few tweeks to the system?

All new would mean a major defection for the roster and recruits, but could also bring in something completely refreshing. But could also turn us into what Wisconsin is dealing with.

Or stay the course and continue with 6 to 9 wins per season with Wallace, Lester or Woods.

Could not agree more, @Fryowa

Took me till now to even get on here I was so disgusted by the loss. I watched the presser Sun morning and literally had to search Gundy's heat and MI Women's coach about breaking the damn podium to just reset my brain after that...

Aye...

I think he steps down at season end.
He knows the game and culture have changed. And he realizes it's time to go.
I think so to. I think he got his record this season & that might have been his goal. Well, his goal is obviously to win BIG 10 games, but I think he's pretty content now.

When talking about players, he constantly says the same thing ........paraphrase "He's a quality individual. He's a hard worker". This is fine, but he says that every time.

You're not wrong. And I've been trying to analyze this in my head all morning. And I make no bones about defending KF on here. I can be easily accused for being biased. I hope it's just it was an emotional gut punch for him. Damn, we were right there and I'm sure all the staff really had the belief they nailed their game planning how the game was trending.

I've seen blame on KF on play calling and even shots at Phil for his play call on the long touchdown. I totally disagree with those critics. On both, I truly think it was about execution. That is more on the players. Regardless, we have a bye week, and lets hope we can continue to grow and move forward.
Yep, you can teach positioning and tackling, but the players are the one's who have to tackle.

Phil is done when Kirk is done so the guy who is arguably the most important person on the sidelines is off the table no matter what.

If it's woods I think you see a lot of people stay.

If it's Wallace guys are gonna jump ship, hopefully Goetz is smarter than that.

Lester I think could get some guys to stay but Woods will be gone. He isn't going to stick around for another 20 years as a ST or DC. That's a net negative for Iowa.

I think the replacements should be in order of rank...

1) LeVar Woods...Young, Iowa City guy, one of the best recruiters in the world.

2) Lester...has B1G experience now as well as understanding the NFL world, let him cook and open the playbook once KF takes his foot off his chest.

3) Pat Fitzgerald. His kid is here, he's somewhat young in coaching years, knows the B1G, played in the B1G, I'd love to see what he can do with a better B1G team and NIL.

Seth Wallace is a wet fart in month-old underwear. Scumbag redneck piece of shit ass kissing abuser who apparently has compromising pictures of KF in his safe deposit box.

Anyone other than the 3 guys I mentioned is a roll on a 10,000-sided die.

Lester with PFitz as DC would be my choice

Do you think Lester would stay at OC if Woods were offered the HC job?

Remember this, folks who want a fresh new face and staff...

Scott Frost, Mike Riley, Luke Fickell, and Les Miles said all the right things and had the grandest of plans when they got hired. What they all did was sold lemons to unsuspecting and uneducated administrations and fans who drank every drop of Kool Aid they poured.

There's 10,000 of those fast Eddies for every one success. Careful who you wish for.

I'm really pulling for Woods to get the job, but don't think Beth wants to take a chance with this next hire. Whoever it is, there'll be some major changes coming either way.

She'd be taking much less of a chance hiring him than anyone else.

If there's anything one should know from college football in the last 15 years it's that a HC's previous record does NOT equal success at his next school. There are many, MANY more coaches who've failed after getting a new job than continued their success. Give me any name of a guy who has been great and I'll give you 50 who flopped.

There's scenarios that would be potentially positive for all 3 of the aforementioned (Woods, Lester, and Fitz). I wouldn't mind Woods, but I think he would need to ensure some capable coordinators to merit success.

Fitz and Lester have done it and have experience. Does the NW scandal follow Fitz. Recall, Iowa had their go around with the racism and hazing stuff as well. Do they fear hiring Fitz for bad PR or blowback? Lester has had less success but definitely probably has the most well-rounded experience to be a head coach.

It will be interesting to see which way they go when the time comes.

Glen Mason to Tim Brewster is my favorite.
