Stars Matter

All Kurt needs to do is offer the 4* & 5* players and sit back. We'd be 14-0 by now if he had done that. Instead he's crootin' stoopid 2-3* players and it's obvious he don't wanna win.

Is this Kurt guy related to the Ferentz family? If so this nepotism thing has gotten completely out of control.

A very large percent of the general student body leave school without a degree. Many dont get past their freshman year and get decent jobs in the workforce. If a football player leaves after 3 years, maybe 4 years with a redshirt, they are way ahead of most kids who went to college.

More than ever you need that degree as there arent has many really good paying blue collar jobs as 30 years ago

It's not just about getting the four and five star recruits. It takes a good coach that knows what to do with them once they are there. Michigan and Notre Dame are living proof of this. They both went through periods of being down even with some of the highest rated players in the country.

I have mixed feeling about Kirk as he probably gets more out of his two and three star recruits than any coach in the country. However I would like to see more four star players and occasional five star players here and there. With one of America's finest fan bases and with new facilities that have to be equal if not better than some of the top football programs there is no reason this can't happen at Iowa.

Because of a one in a million fluke play in the Michigan Michigan State game.

Fluke play? This was in Columbus and they shut them down. They didn't win because all of those 4 and 5 stars didn't play as a team along with crappy play calls. Which then of of course led to post game commentary by Ezekiel and Cardale that was less than flattering.

So only because Ohio State had to play Michigan State caused Ohio State not to win. If only it wasn't for those darn kids they would have gotten away with it! (has to be first Scooby Doo reference on this board evvvvvaaa).

The fluke play was the blocked punt in the Michigan/MSU game. If not for that, Ohio State would have made the championship game. I don't think anyone is saying the best recruiting classes go undefeated every single year.

As Mr. Cliche might say, every play counts. I don't think Ohio State's team chemistry was that great last year. I think we witnessed ourselves on the Iowa team from the 2014 team vs the 2015 team.

If their team chemistry wasn't good, it proves even more how important stars are. It takes a lot of talent to have that good of a season despite bad team chemistry.

Day drinkin' again, huh.
