Stanley Is A Machine

Stanley has had some surgery done in the off season

Apparently this machine was developed at Iowa and Iowa is the only team to have a robotic QB and punter. It’s hard to believe but Regardless it’s pretty impressive.

I

I think that was his junior year. And I would love to know what his net average was. He kicked it as high as he did far. Had a long NFL career. Sadly lost him at a young age. Dan Mc Carney was the original recruiter on him, back at the end of the Bob Commings era.

according to wikipedia, roby did avg 49.8 ypk one season. and yeah, died way too young.

I've never seen a punter that could change the game like Roby. One of a kind. The height on his kicks was unbelievable.

Are they any NCAA regulations against us putting a jersey on that thing when we have to punt this Fall?

i honestly cannot tell you if there is any rule in the NCAA rule book against AI. but i feel sorta confidence there aren't. ;)

I had a "Six Million Dollar Man" action figure as a kid.

Had Evel Knievel, too. Complete with miniature motorcycle.

Until he crashed into my mom's shadow box and destroyed her Unicorn glass figure.

Note to young children: Do not mess with your mother's glass figurines.

oh man...the memories. now, didn't evil knievels arms and legs fall off to simulate many of his landings? :)

And you knew some serious, serious stuff was about to happen when you heard this!

Reggie Roby's punts occasionally were as high as the level of the old Kinnick press box.

What a weapon he was.

Truer words have never been spoken. I remember Roby kicking into a strong wind at Kinnick...and the return guy was still standing 40 yards from the line of scrimmage. Roby hits this punt that is low and a frozen rope spiral...it got over the return guys head so fast and bounded about 65 yards...flip of field...first and 10 opponent at their 15 yard line.

If you don't think he was a main contributor of what that defense was able to accomplish in '81...you are sorely mistaken.

Every serial number gets five years to play four. They can even play up to four games during their red shirt year starting this fall. I'm not sure how a medical waiver would go if one should happen to break down during the season.

However, KF will bend the rules by scratching off the serial numbers so the NCAA can't keep track. Thereby, saving the University millions of dollars every 5 years and helping him build his retirement surplus.

Scratching off the serial number sounds more like a Dantonio move. Shit he might even pick his machines up from jail and drive them to the games.

Kirk would probably just find discounted units that are believed to be sub functioning and get 1/5th of them back to working up to par.

No, sub-functioning units aren't fit for the team because they're so unpredictable. He doesn't want them to break team rules off the field.

I must admit that the Dantonio & picking them up from jail reference had me ROFL.

Exactly like my AMC Gremlin in high school...
But that gas mileage. :D

Recall the energy crisis of the early seventies. No more Dodge Chargers, Chevy Chevelles, Ford Mustangs, Pontiac Trans Ams. Bye bye to the Oldsmobile Cutlass. Hello AMC Gremlins, Ford Escorts, Chevy Chevettes, Dodge Omnis and GEO Metros.

wouldn't the warranty apply if it were to malfunction or otherwise break down?

Does a visit to the factory count as an in-home visit?

The better question is how do we get these machines on campus for an official visit? I mean ya it's cold here in the winter, but they have to see the community to fall in love.
