Stanley bandwagon is deboarding, watch your step as you leave

I will agree that Wadley is the heart & core of the offense. We are lucky he didn't declare for the draft.
If it weren't for him I have a feeling we would all be talking about how bad this offensive line really is. He makes a lot of plays work on his own, not because this line is as great as everyone thinks.

Exactly, He's just so impressive to watch...I know it won't be sunshine and rainbows all the time...but wow, he has "it".
CJB & Stanzi & All of them were great...but I don't ever recall them seeming to make those type of decisions so easily.

Heck I re-watched Wyoming game...I think it was the Easley TD...he was totally scanning left side of field, doesn't find his targets and boom rotates and hits easley on the other half. He's not perfect but I really believe in my limited football knowledge, he's making some impressive "football" decisions back there.

It would be interesting to get an insiders perspective; but my impression is that Stanley reads coverage and not his WR's. In other words, he's scanning the db's and "knows" where his pass should go based on what the db's cover. no way for me to see that watching games on tv, but again, would love to get an insiders observations on that.

Somebody said it in another thread... yes Stanley missed on a couple deep shots but there's definetly a silver lining...

We are actually taking shots downfield and there was separation.

More opportunities to come...

That was me. Pragmatism runs wild with me.

Quite possibly the dumbest headline for a post I have ever seen. I feel dumber having clicked on it. Stanley throws 5 TDs the horror....so he missed a few long balls, float them a little and they are completions. Stanley was playing in his second collegiate game in a hostile venue. I was happy with his composure. His passes to Vandeberg and Marsset in for TDs were beautiful. I'm looking forward to the next three years.

So far, I'm happy with about 99% of passing plays called by Brian. Some of his rushing plays have been a little WTF, however.

I noticed that to. It was a great play. He knew exactly where the 2nd option should be and made the play. That's something that would rarely happen in the GD offense. It was a predetermined route and Stanley knew where all of his WRs should be. Chuck Long was really good at that to. He seemed to know where everybody on the field was at all times.

Josh got ya Indiana. His bait is tempting, but ya gotta be strong.

Josh, I agree with you most of the time, but you are full of shit on this one. Stanley is doing better than can be expected from a new Iowa QB, he is the future of Iowa football, definitely not a Rudock.

You do realize "new" Iowa QBs have won bowl games and conference titles? And Ruduck is in the NFL so it's not like I called him Hitler. I hope you weren't expecting a 6 win season because he's a "new" Iowa QB. Anyway, I think Iowa has the talent around him to be better than last year, so if you're right we will be. Right now I see more questions than answers, but I also have my hopes. I think he has the physical tools, but does he have the moxie of a Tate? Stanzi? CJB? The good news for him is he probably(?) has a better O.C. than the QBs I previously mentioned.

Stanley did a nice job today. He made the plays he had to.

Wadley has to be exhausted, though, because he carried the whole damn team.

He's got enough moxie to not panic on the road in a hostile environment when he is down multiple scores. He has enough moxie to throw a perfect strike on a walk-off TD in OT. He has enough moxie to throw a pick in his first quarter, than rattle off 8 straight TDs. He has enough moxie to shrug off missing deep balls for TDs and move on with the drive.

Stanley had great pocket protection all day

Brian is protecting his QB with the play calling. Defenses have to respect the running game, so play action works well. Iowa is taking shots down the field, so now defenses can't just completely sell out vs the run, play man v man and watch Iowa try to run 3 yard curls against it like GDGD did.

If you haven't watched the plays @JonDMiller has posted on twitter, you need to. Also looking at HawkeyeGameFilm responses to these is great. Brian is running so many different looks with his personal grouping, that the tendencies that other teams used to focus on with GDGD are gone. No longer will Penn St. LB be able to point out what hole Iowa is going to run to before they snap the ball.
