Here are some numbers for Stanford's defense.

Rushing 146.9 ypg 44th in the nation
Passing 227.6 ypg 71st
Total 374.5 ypg 50th
Pass eff. 54th
Turnover marg 0 65th
Red zone 89% 104th
Interceptions 7 104th (team has fewer than King)
3rd down 36.9% 54th
4th down 60% 109th

I realize that they are known for their offense and that's how they win their games.

Key stats: They are 8th in the Pac 12 in total offense.
The best defense in the Pac 12 would be ranked 8th in the Big Ten.
They didn't play Utah, who has the #1 total defense in the Pac 12.
The #2 total defense in the Pac 12, Washington, held them to 3.9 ypc

Nice post. Here I thought they were more powerful offensively. I guess I was wrong. Nice! Our defense will have it's handful with McCaffery but I think we can contain him and slow him down. Iowa wins!

This is probably one of Stanford's worst defenses in 10 years from what I have heard. They used to give Oregon's high powered offenses a tough time and did again this year.

Stanford is really good when they have that great ball control offense with a good passing game and of course the great defense.

The hawk offense, especially receivers who need to get separation, has to be clicking and I think Iowa can score in the 30's. There might be some long time consuming drives in this game which will make every possession crucial, which is the kind of game I like.

Need to get stops on 1st and 2nd down...keep 'em off schedule. Same formula as playing Iowa.
