St john's win against Welsh

I've questioned his toughness on here this season. His win tonight against Welsh was huge, not just to beat a good wrestler, but he was down early, fought the entire match and got a win he absolutely needed.

Agreed CR. That's the first time I've been impressed with DSJ this season. Looks like he's overcome whatever was ailing him earlier this season. Great job in the third period over the #7 ranked wrestler. Next up...#3 Taylor.

DSJ uses his movement along with fakes and level changes to setup his opponents, so his setups are not as obvious as others, but I agree he needs to use them more. He too often gets his opponents to react to his fakes and level changes but does not follow it up with a shot. I don't like that he didn't choose down against Welch because Taylor is a much better rider than Welch and that is going to be key for DSJ to beat Taylor in folkstyle. In fact that is where I think PSU owns the advantage in this dual, the are tough on top and score points from there.

From where i was sitting it looked to me like Brands told him not to go down. Brands must of known something.

Brands did tell him not to go down, but that is what is troubling because Welch is far from a hammer on top.
