*ss Beatn"

At least the Hawks have a week after the Purdue game to prepare for them at home.. Hopefully this is a nice wake up call.

25th ranked teams get beat down on the road all the time against top 10 teams. Sucks that it happened but it doesn't change that we are somewhere between the 2nd and 6th best team in the conference.

I agree with you here. I'm actually less upset with a drubbing like that, than having a lead at half, and blowing it. These games will happen in college basketball.

That said, some need to open their eyes with this team and Fran. We have collectively the worst guard play of any B1G team (including Penn. St. and Rutgers). Fran has brought in Marble, Ogs, Gesell, Clemmons, Ingram, Jok, Dickerson and Ellenson to play guard at Iowa. Of those, only 1 is an avg. B1G player or better, and that kid is someone he inherited from Lick in essence.

The thing that is soooooo frustrating are the misses by Fran in recruiting at the Guard position: EC Mathews, Chase Randle, Trey Burke, Tyler Ulis, and Reiley LeChance. I think every one of the guards that Fran has brought in beside Gesell has been a fallback recruit. He had other targets that he preferred, but he couldn't get them.

time to get dickerson some more time. seems pretty simple to me. He is the ONLY guard with any quickness

Any one of those guys come here and we are competing for a title this year. Fran is so close to making us a top 10 team. Because of those misses though, we have to settle for fringe top 25.

It's good to see most of the comments on this thread didn't throw the Team and Coach under the Bus after a loss. Yes we'd all like to have seen them win but how many are surprised we lost at Wisconsin? Sure it would have been nice to not gotten our ***** KICKED from the opening tip but how many teams in the country go through a season without an ***-stomping at some point? Probably can count them on one hand most years. Wisconsin is freaking good and they were on top of their Game last night while Iowa left their Game back in Iowa City on this night. It happens. To say Fran sucks because of it is unbelievable. Come on, 24 hours ago did you feel that way?

This team looked TIRED. Saturday was a huge, emotional game. We needed another day to rest.

We'll come back Saturday with more "pop"
We sure as he** better. Purdue, even on their floor would fall in the bad loss category. And this team has been great at taking care of bidnus when they are supposed to. So hope they shrug this off and get focused to handle Purdue.

Hate to say it, but I'm headed in this direction, too. Hope Fran can do the job, but I don't see him making Iowa nationally relevant. Cm ' on Fran, let's get it going.

What's sad is that he was able to make freaking Sienna relevant. What's that tell you about Iowa's image & being able to get young men to play here.

I'm not giving up on Fran yet.

Just yesterday ESPN was doing a story about the state of Iowa and how good the basketball is here with the 3 main schools. Now today Fran has completely failed because he lost to a possible championship team. It wasn't long ago that I'd read about a Hawk game the next day and didn't even know or care it was on. The short comings of this team are obvious and most can see what position needs an upgrade. Maybe it's not up to the level that most want yet but Fran has raised the level of "relevance" for this Hawkeye team. Most said going 2-3 over the next 5 games would set them up well for the stretch run. Lets not jump off the wagon just yet.

I'm by no means jumping ship, but it absolutely infuriates me see the Hawks play so hard to work themselves back into the polls an then put up an effort like they did last night. Wisconsin is a very good team and played a very good game, but I've never seen us look as lost on defense for an entire 40 minutes, like I did last night. It seriously made me nauseous.

This is what we are with Fran.

Yes, sadly, it is. There is NO excuse for going up there and getting thrashed by over 30 points. Purdue lost by 7 at Wisconsin. It was a flat-out embarrassment. It appears that both the team and head coach were totally intimidated right from the start. This team likely belongs in the Iowa conference playing William Penn and Central.

I don't think we can honestly judge this game until after the Purdue game.

Heart, fortitude, caring, self-esteem, pride....it'll all come out in the next 40 minutes of BB.

Pretty much how I felt too. Definitely expected a better effort than they gave. I've seen the Hawks lay an egg like that and then bounce back before so that's what I'm hoping they do. We shall see.

Agreed. We've only really struggled with top 10-15 teams(and UNI).

the collapse from last year still is fresh in Hawk fans minds, so I understand the frustration. A 30 point beating doesn't help.

I still think Fran is a good coach. Need to show we can bounce back next game.

We will see.

Go Hawks.

We bounced back with 2 wins and a national ranking after the ugly 2nd half against MSU. This game was just a bump in the road IMO.
