Spring Football: The Offense

If Onre is as strong as they say, I think he will get the nod over Gettis. It seemed that Gettis got pushed around last year, when he did start.

I wish he would move to center.........don't agree with starting either one of the midgets mentioned.......oh, I think the PC term is "little people".

James Ferentz is 6'2, 275. Not sure I'd call him a midget. I think we will get better play out of JF than we got out of RE. JMO.

Has anyone heard how Ricky is doing this year in spring practices? Thought i read on some of the other free sites that he still starts practice out very slow, then gets hot.

While our defense should be as good this year as last (if healthy); i don't like the idea of Ricky spotting the opposing teams points six plus times.

I think JF will be fine at center, at least as good as RE has ever been. Guard play might be bit uneasy early on.

On a whim I watched the Michigan game from last year. I attended the game, but never watched it.

I had forgotten that Rick had thrown the Pick 6 on his first pass. Man, he needs to eliminate those mistakes. I have no doubts that our D is going keep most if not all our opponents down and give us a chance in every game, but with a brand new O Line I'm afraid we might have trouble putting points on the board. Sure we have a TON of talent in the skill positions, but if Rick has no time to look, or if there simply aren't any lanes we could be in trouble.

Those aren't uncommon sizes at center.

It is at a DI school.

If we had a couple of good sized guards flanking him it wouldn't cause me as much concern but we are going to be on the small size across the line which just makes us that much more vulnerable at center. Come on, we chewed up G-tech in part b/c our d line is good and their o line was tiny.

Their O-line was tiny, even by tiny standards. ISU had the biggest O-line in CFB last year, how did they do against us?

Although the score didn't show it, they did run for 190 yards on us. Our Dline, specifically AC and CB said they were embarassed by their performance.
Take out the 6 turnovers and it would have been a ballgame.
Don't get me wrong, we trounced em. 190 yds rushing is nothing to scoff at though. It might have been more if we hadn't gotten so far up so early.

I don't like him spotting them the points either, but I still believe in the guy. What has changed since 2008? He had a slightly higher "rating" in 2008, and threw fewer interceptions(and TD's)... He did have a sharp increase in TD's last year, but threw just as many picks...
What has changed with him? I went to two games last year and saw some "very obvious" route-running mistakes, which can't account for all of his "pick" problems, obviously... I just don't get it. He's an ANIMAL when he turns things on in the fourth. I was at the Idiana game, and WOW!
