Spot on article about new Kirk

I know 18 year old kids aren't always the smartest, but who cares if a coach has a 5 year contract or not? Is that really a thing or is it something someone thought of once and people make a big deal of it now for no reason? Job security for a coach has nothing to do with how many years are on their contract. It's all about wins and loses.

AMEN, and even if it is a legit excuse then only give them one year extensions.

Look I don't think too many people are going to bust his or any coaches balls over that decision. It was the only one to make I think. If you fail and give them the ball at midfieldish that would have made for way more 2nd guessing and rightfully so. I enjoy new Kirk and being aggressive but the difference between those 30-40 yrds of field position is always huge let alone in that situation. Now I remember at the time yelling at the TV myself to go for it but after taking a breath and thinking of the whole picture punting was the way to go... Granted hind sight is what it is but I don't chalk winning or losing that game up to that at all. Iowa had lots of other posessions that they didn't do squat with. If Iowa would have gotten 3 pts or more when MSU intercepted that fluke of a play in the first half... You can pick any game a part really playing the what if game. There are better times than others to play the aggressive "New Kirk" card and that wouldn't have been one of them.

I would have went for it on fourth down. High rewards often require risky choices. I have faith in CJ that he gets those two yards one way or the other. Another QB in the backfield and I would question it, but CJ is the one that got us to where we were and I would have trusted him with the ball.

Patented play where we do a play action to the running back and CJ then rolls out to the right and has a tight end cutting across left to right eight yards deep and another receiver ten yards deeper doing the same play. The linebacker has to decide whether to leave the receiver and rush CJ or to stay with the tightend and let CJ easily run four or five yards. That play has a 90% chance of success every time we have done it.

If we were tied or losing maybe... But not with a lead. The overall situation being what it was to me is why punting was the right choice. I'm sure there are situations and calls that keeps coaches up at night. But I hope that's not one of them for him because I think most coaches out there would have done the same thing. Sometimes you have to just live with the results. Maybe if the ball was inside the 40 yard line at border line long field goal range you go for it. But that extra 10-12 yards made all the difference to me.

What did I say that insinuated that I thoughthwhat the author wrote was lies?

"Wow, was that written by one of the Anti-KF crowd? That was one giant backhanded compliment."

A backhanded compliment, also known as a left-handed compliment or asteism, is an insult that is disguised as a compliment. Sometimes, a backhanded compliment may be inadvertent. However, the term usually connotes an intent to belittle or condescend.

With your quote, you clearly felt the article was an insult to KF. This means you do not agree that it is an accurate article. That is why I asked you to provide detail.

Nope, just took it as an insult disguised as a compliment. If you want to write an article ripping on him, go ahead as everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just found the article a bit condescending. And I don't think it was inadvertent.

Then the article was factual and correct. How can the truth be considered a back-handed compliment? The truth is the truth and if that diminishes or increases an overall opinion of a person's performance, then that is also the truth.

Personally, I didn't see it the way you did. I only saw how they used the facts from 2010 through 2014 season to identify that there really was a "new" Kirk last season.

I am pretty sure you are either trying to start an argument here or try to make me look the fool as we often have differing view points. But I don't think I will fall for your baiting this time.

All I will say is that no where in what I have wrote have I said or insinuated that the author had misstated or wrote any falsehood. Your own definition of backhanded compliment doesn't even mention anything about a backhanded compliment being associated with lying.

I am not sure you understand what a backhanded compliment is.

Example: Your car rides nice, for a cheap car.
Or, your dog is cute, in that ugly kind of way.
Or, that post is insightful, coming from you.

Kirk is going to be here until he retires. May as well give him a one year rollover to appease the recruits. If Barta didn't fire Kirk before last years run he's never going to do it. KF and Barta are going to ride into the sunset together. When Kirk is ready to hang them up is when it ends for both of them. I believe Kirk wants to get 20 years in and then he'll call it quits.
