I could think of thousands of reas$ns. With stability, and pension. Sign me up.If Phil doesn't want to be a HC, why would he stay at Iowa?
Like a paid intern, learning on the job. C'mon, he'll grow on you!Brian is auditioning for the HC job. This is not a good resume builder for him for that position. If it doesn't get better, my guess is he'll remain the OC as long as Kirk is the coach, but he'll have very little chance of becoming the head coach. However, I expect it will get better this year, and following. It's a bit early to make final conclusions, but it is also worthy of discussion because it has to be a concern as games go on.
Defenses do KNOW.Hard on o-line,wr's,Qb ect. 8 in BOX fun huh?GoHawks! It seems the ONLY game we played 'to win' under BF, was OSU last year. Pushed the ball down the field, on FIRST DOWN, and pedal-to-the-metal. Every other game, play 'not to lose'....run to short side of field on first down for maybe a yd or two, and play 'behind the sticks' and predictable all game (Defense pretty much knows EXACTLY what we are doing every play).
One - Cincinnati112th, how many 2 win teams are worst on offense than Iowa?
It should be 2-0 with an asterisk. Two halves of crap, one so -so quarter, and a half of decent play offensively. The 2-0, should be given to the defense and special teams. Stanley did step up when it counted. I would love to see him throw the ball again with gusto,. It seems he is doing that thing the QB's do at Iowa after a couple years of coaching/brainwashing, where he is trying to make the "perfect" throw. Let it fly Stanley!!!2-0. Its a bad look to complain too much. We need to improve, but cant be better than 2-0 at this point.
There are no astericks. You win or you lose, unless you tie (but only in the NFL). Games are won by teams. It should be 2-0 with an asterisk. I stand corrected AND look who's at the rock bottom of total offense NIU and ISU. Did we just play 2 of the worst teams in D1 or is our D that good? Time will tell.
True so when we look REALLY bad and lose this year because we can't move the ball those will be LOSES that could've been avoided had we any offensive punch. So yes you are correct. There are no astericks. You win or you lose, unless you tie (but only in the NFL). Games are won by teams.
Yes sir. That would be correct. An excellent D goes a long way considering we do have offensive talent. Even if it underperforms, we will win most games and have a shot in all. My guess is the offense wont be bad 12 games in a row.True so when we look REALLY bad and lose this year because we can't move the ball those will be LOSES that could've been avoided had we any offensive punch. Every year I say similar things about a team that just beat us.Skill players better? Who? Hakeem "Stone Hands" Butler? The backs who made up the .8 yards per carry average yesterday? Kick returners = nothing. Punt returners= nothing. Quarterbacks = nothing special. None of their tight ends would even make traveling squad at Iowa. Not really sure where you are coming from.
I think Gutless Gary will retire about the same time KF does and on his way out the door, he'll hand BF the job. Whether BF deserves the job or not. I'm willing to bet on that theory.Brian is auditioning for the HC job. This is not a good resume builder for him for that position. This is the real take away for me. We could have lost either of those games.2-0 is a great start. NIU and ISU weren't supposed to be cupcakes. I thought we could have lost to one of these teams.
