somebody please f'ing explain why

There is something in the water in Iowa City that is causing the coaches of the football and mens basketball teams to make curious and unexplainable management decisions. Thank goodness it hasn't touched the wrestling program, yet. Frans in game management is getting bizarre.

Behind Uthoff, Jok was the best offense the Hawks had all night and I feel like Fran benched him for the final 10 minutes. He certainly makes some decisions with the rotation that makes me scratch my head.

Gesell and Uthoff both sat with 3 fouls during that run I believe. I think they sat too long but it worked out. If anyone ever brings up Jok's D again I'll cyber kick your nuts. Oglesby's defense isn't even close to Jok's anymore.

As much as people ***** about JO he doesn't make mistakes, but he doesn't make much happen either.

Mike is really our onlycomplete guard and he can't play the whole game.

Jok shot well but he again allowed people to go around him easily and Minnys penetration was what was getting them back in the game. He also made some poor moves on O in the second half. I understand taking him out.

IMO what has to be avoided is having Clemons and Ogelsby on the floor together. That line up is to offensively challenged .

Gesell had foul trouble. Jok can't defend. Jeez, what game are you guys watching. Fran talked about it in his post game show.

Iowa WON a huge game tonight against a very good Minnesota team. Come on guys

Disagree.

what exactly would a cyber kick to the ole nut sack feel like

1. Oglesby plays
2. Why in the hell Gesell was on the bench for so long?

The decision to keep Gesell on the pine that long was ridiculous. He was playing great defense and wasn't turning it over. Having Sapp run the point is seriously affecting my heart. Am I the only one who thinks his handle is really loose? I also think he's carrying it half the time. He does some good things and works hard, but he's still got along way to go.

Fran manages fouls like he can only play 6-7 guys. You have four guards, that's 20 fouls Fran. With no other guard in foul trouble...there was no worry about Mike picking up number four. Gesell was playing well, in particular on defense, and you put him on the bench for 12 minutes and Minnesota is making a run. I'm going on record as saying that's questionable coaching. There I said it.

Do you live in Colorado? Or Amsterdam? Or Aurora? Because, I'm thinking you are high. Jok's defense has improved, but he's no Bill Russell. He got beat a bunch off the dribble by their guards tonight. He just doesn't anticipate well, but he's improving, which is the key. His offense is pretty important right now.

You saw what happened when he wasn't on the floor, right? I agree that he sat for too long, but we absolutely couldn't afford him to pick up his fourth that early, because then he's either on the bench or playing with one hand behind his back for the stretch run.

We scored more points in first half and second half, we try to avoid getting foul out . so chill out, man. It's the end results we want, right?
Peace.

While his defense has improved, it can be better. However, right now, his potential for offense is greater than any liability he may have on defense, and Hawks need more offensive weapons on the court. No one on the bench plays that much better defense that it outweighs the potential offense Jok brings when he's out there.

It's a bit like the Beathard vs. Rudock debate. Beathard may throw more interceptions than Rudock, but he also brings the potential for more offense (points), which is what Iowa needed (needs). TDs = Points. Interception don't always equal points for the other team. Jon made this point in one of his podcasts. I think the same holds true for what Jok brings to the team versus whoever comes off the bench (Oglesby?).

If anyone has the game DVRed, go back and wath Oglesby during our bad stretch. His effort was really really bad. I said in the game thread and stand by it. I've never seen a D1 player look like that when fighting through screens.

I know people (including me) get tired of people ripping on him, so the people who didn't notice this are going to not like my post. But it was jaw dropping watching him in the 2nd half. Guys were setting screens on him and he would literally stand flat footed next to the guy screening him with zero effort to get through him.

Seriously, anyone who thinks I'm exaggerating and have the game recorded, go back and watch.
